^^^ THIS ^^^ Is there no sport immune to horrible calls/refs/umps??? Sure, Casey missed it, and that's great he owns up to it. However, the home plate ump could have, and SHOULD HAVE asked for the replay himself. That game would have ended way differently. Still maybe not a win. But maybe so.
Beavers game time for tomorrow is determined by the outcome of the TCU vs FLA game tonight. Beavers play at 12 p.m. PT (if TCU wins) or 5 p.m. PT (if FLA wins).
Game. Blouses. That's why you pay attention at all times. The Beavs' lack of attention on one play very possibly cost them a trip to the Finals.
Beavs now join the same category as the 1996 Red Wings, 2001 Mariners, 2007 Patriots, 2015 Wildcats, and 2016 Warriors as having the best regular season in their sports' history, but failing to win the title.
Seattle should have won 4 or 5 WS with players like Arod, Grifftey, Edgar, Randy, Tino, Vizquel.... Nintendo used the 95 team to extort a new stadium and then cut payroll like Gordon Gecko in a Hostile Take Over. I don't consider the 2001 Mariners an "almost team" they were a "never was." Ichiro should have been the final piece of a dynasty. Man Seattle has gotten screwed in the sports entertainment department. I still hate their teams but I understand their sorrow.
As the biggest Mariners fan I know (that fandom was gifted to me at birth, as was the tradition for my parents to give each of my brothers a team at birth), I would honestly be satisfied with just a single AL Championship at this point. I hate your Yankees nearly much as I hate the ducks. Doesn't mean I don't respect them or their history. I appreciate your take, too. Griffey, Edgar and Buhner are the ball players that I respect the most from the M's. And besides maybe Nolan Ryan or Walter Johnson, Randy Johnson is the last pitcher I would EVER want to face. Ichiro can go eff himself, as well as the questionable ownership you mentioned. I was glad when he decided to go get his 200 hits a year on a different team.
Baseball isn't a team sport (and I say that as someone who likes baseball). It's mostly a series of one-on-one competitions. The closest you really get to teamwork is the double-play combination and pitchers working with their catcher. Ichiro didn't play any of those positions.
Tennis, wrestling, and fencing aren't team sports. I can respect your reasoning, but come on. Every team in the MLB is exactly that, a team. We will just have to disagree on that one I guess. In regards to Ichiro, I respect can him for what he does on the field. As @ripcityboy alluded to above, I may have more of a disagreement with the ownership at that time, than Suzuki himself. To me, there isn't really a difference between the two though.
My point is, no one can "hog the ball" in baseball by its very design, unlike with your Russell Westbrook comparison. What did you feel he did that was selfish and hurt the team? I didn't quite follow your "there isn't a difference between" ownership and Ichiro. You felt he did something financially to damage the team?
