It's nice too have an Oregon team killing it. I will always for for any team from my home state. I was actually going to OSU during that first run and first championship. It was fun. I remember watching the final game on a tv at the Crow Bar. I was living in Florida amongst a bunch of fellow biologists who were huge soccer nuts. I was proud to watch the Timbers win the MLS title and show off my city and state with all off those people. Hopefully the Beavs do our state proud this year.
actually he is right. corvallis itself is around 55k but if you add the student population at osu it easily become around 80k
I wondered about that. I didn't know how the student "transient" population is counted, considering many students don't actually leave town.
...not true, students are included in the census numbers according to the Corvallis Planning Division Manager.
Regardless of the population of Corvallis, to me the most impressive thing about those back to back titles is they are the only CWS wins by a northern school in the last 50 years. Just go back and look at the list of past winners. They are almost all from California, Texas, Arizona or the Southeast. Since Ohio State won in 1966, other than Oregon State's two wins, the closest thing we've had to a Northern team winning the CWS has been Stanford in 1987 and 88. Conventional wisdom for the last 50 years has been northern schools just can't compete due to the shorter warm/dry season and inability to recruit top prospects. Pat Casey continues to prove otherwise. BNM
Hit up the China Buffet for lunchtime....all you can eat ...nothing fancy but great place that won't break the bank.
