http://www.oregonlive.com/beavers/index.ssf/2017/06/jake_thompson_nick_madrigal_he.html Three Oregon State baseball players on Wednesday earned All-American honors. Redshirt junior right-handed pitcher Jake Thompson won two first team honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and Perfect Game. Thompson, who the Boston Red Sox selected in the fourth round of the Major League Baseball draft, is 14-0 with a 1.52 ERA, which ranks fifth in the nation. He has 113 strikeouts to 36 walks in 118 1/3 innings and opposing teams are hitting .184 against him in 18 appearances. Sophomore second baseman Nick Madrigal was named to the Perfect Game second team and the NCBWA third team. Madrigal, the team's primary leadoff hitter who split time a shortstop this season, is batting .383 with a .451 on-base percentage, tallying 19 doubles, two triples and four home runs (.541 slugging percentage). Madrigal also has a team-high 16 stolen bases. And freshman left-handed reliever Jake Mulholland made the NCBWA second team. He pitched 22 2/3 scoreless innings to start his career and is now 6-1 with a 1.31 ERA after firing 41 strikeouts to 11 walks in 48 innings.
No matter what side of the fence you were on its nice to get some closure on this debacle. I, for one, am glad he is not joining the team in Omaha and honestly think we are still the favorites even with him not on the pitching staff. I imagine the coverage of this story will die down significantly as others realize continual coverage of the specifics only hurts ALL involved. Go Beavs
I think it sucks. He WAS garbage for what he DID. Baseball life is ruined. I don't know him, don't know his back story, don't know his rehab, but I hope things work out for him.
Is it though? Ed ray said luke is welcome back next year as a student athlete. And luke said he wants to stay for his senior year.
What i'm saying is i dont see closure yet on this. If dude does really come back next year you won't have heard the last of it.
Yea I'm sure there will still be discussion as long as he is still playing. I don't think it will be anything like it has been this past week though. Just look at how many articles are still be written about Altman's handling of the situation last year at UHole. Also getting a clear description of the University's stance on it all should answer a lot questions folks had.
Lol!!! Such a homer. The only reason I checked out this thread was to see if tlong would back OSU's child molester. Of fucking course he does STOMP
