the worst excuse I keep hearing for M's struggles is "the relievers are tired". That's a bunch of horse dookie.. I'm pretty sure Seattle is near the top in quality starts.
i tried to get nerdy and look up quality starts. Logan Gilbert leads MLB in quality starts. Numero Uno Castillo ranked #8 Kirby #10 Miller #17 Woo missed some games, but I count 8 quality starts, and his radical 2.12 ERA can't be ignored. according to Whyachi rough numbers, the Mariners have entered games this season with a 65% chance their starting pitcher was going to throw an absolute gem. Being that Mariners W/L record hovers around .500... any fake "reporter" who hints pitching problems in Seattle, is a blatant smooching attempt to hop aboard the deflecting criticism train.
the Locked on Mariners podcast is depressed... lol. they probably spent the last 2 years building a bridge of excuses to keep Scott Servais out of hot water.
I’m not sold he’s a good coach. But he’s the furthest thing from the problem with that team. Another GM scapegoating their piss poor job
ESPN- "Seattle also fired hitting coach Jarret DeHart on Thursday" ... this dude had to go. Maybe Scott was appealing decisions to move on from Chumpy McGee as primary batting instructor? The GM had seen enough hitting slumps. Fire "Team Servais" was warranted.
Fox13 Seattle interviewed Mariners fans. One guy said Servais needed to go, because he didn't get kicked out of games enough.
Coach Wilson is the shiznap. Edgar will give some great advice. This will make things fun. It's what was missing in Seattle baseball. Too many games became stress houses with a stressed out Skipper. The love for the game turned into "please get a hit, please get a hit, etc. etc. etc. "
Have you ever heard of a (baseball) team firing their manager when they are 10 up in the division? It was never going to happen and revisionist history is silly on this. The bucks firing griffin is an outlier, and you got a much smaller group of players.
