It's doubtful that they'll pick Nashville as they don't really have any thing set up, same with Charlotte. Nashville became the sexxy pick, even though if you look into it their effort is far behind that of Utah and Portland.

Realistically, if they decide to do an east coast and west coast, I think it's between Portland/Utah and another city out east. But imho thinking they have to go east/West would be stupid, because west of the Mississippi , MLB has 11 teams (and west of Colorado there are a *total* of 7). There are 10 teams within 600 miles from Nashville, for example, and there are zero teams within 600 miles of Seattle. Hell, the closest MLB team to Seattle is (Sacramento) is still over 700 miles away.
I think both Nashville and Charlotte could put something together in days that would eclipse what Portland has provided.

800 million from the state isnt exactly easy to come up with, especially considering availability of funds after they already paid for the titans stadium. Plus, as much as we joke about it, the PDP is already in place where there is no such thing in those cities

that’s what I said. Realistically it should be Portland and Utah who get awarded

agreed. People like Ironman just can’t phantom Portland doing anything big. It’s not his fault. We’ve been to small town minded for a long time and it’s hard to believe something like this could happen

You do understand that 800 million isn't coming from the state right?

Yeah, but you do understand that Nashville doesn't have the ability to do something like it?

Listen kid. I actually was on the crew that built the Rose Garden. I also was there building the Tram. I personally tensioned the spandrels on the Sellwood Bridge and ran the crew that pulled the cables on the Tillicum Crossing. I worked two years on the retractable roof on the Diamondbacks Stadium. I am currently building Gor 2 the largest data center west of the Mississippi for Google.
When you get even the slightest clue on what you are talking about you come back and join the conversation.

Nashville could put 10 investors to Portland's one in a room tomorrow if they needed to. There is a bunch of money in Tennessee. Don't kid yourself.

You calling me out saying and I quote...

You continue to clown yourself on this board continuously.
Again when you get a clue what any of this is about you are welcome to join any conversation I'm having. At this point you don't so go play elsewhere.
By the way the word you were looking for was "Fathom" not "Phantom". Of course, you will just blame it on auto correct but we all know better.

Now that tye World Series is about go begin, it got me thinking

Blazers Game 7 in 2000, would have beaten Indiana in the Finals

Seahawks goal line interception prevented back to back Superbowl

Mariners with 3 inning away from the Word Series

Which one hurts the most?

Which one hurts the most?

1) Blazers (not gonna assume they beat another team if...)

2) Mariners (obviously reasons)

3) Seahawks. They won the year before. Just boneless play calling, but it doesn't hurt that much when 365 days earlier ykh celebrated. My opinion.

1. Blazers easily the biggest collapse of the 3

2. Mariners, to finally be so close and to have Springer of all people hit that HR ... just infuriating

I was cheering for NE in that game and can still remember doing laps around the house when he threw that INT ... was one of the greatest SB moments I've ever witnessed because ... well ... fuck the Seahawks

In fairness to the fans ... Springer is a hated figure across much of baseball but especially in the AL West for being a massive part of the cheating in Houston. Still don't like the cheers but also if you've ever been to a Blue Jays game in Seattle, it's a weird rivalry where all of Canada gets behind that team and the fans flood down from BC. I've been to two games against Toronto in Seattle and will never go to another one. Plus the guy just has a face you'd love to punch!
Yeah it’s been like that since the early 90’s. My uncle played for the Jays in the twilight of his career and I remember he got my parents tickets and I brought a couple friends to a game at the Kingdome in around 92’ or 93’. I was about 7 years old and my memories outside of Jack Morris being a complete dick after he got destroyed on the mound was that Blue Jays fans at the Kingdome were rabid and abundant.

vision wise. Meaning doing big things like attracting mlb teams, etc
Aldo brother believe me when I tell you If it can be built I'm all for it. As a natter of fact I'm literally pushing every button I can to get contractors to look at the possibilities and what It could do for the city. I'm also on two boards discussing the things that could be built around any kind of stadium and what the logistics involved would cost.
Just the influx of a thousand paychecks every week for 2 years that are about $2500 plus those Pensions/Annuities/Healthcare/PTO on top of that could feed this city for a decade with the way living wages are spent in middle class families. That money brings in taxes and infrastructure money and that feeds the needy/homeless. 4 years ago you drove around town and there were 58 tower cranes all over the skyline. Today there are two.
Vision isn't about just finding a place to build it and having the Funding in place. You have to remember this goes way up the ladder. Portland and Oregon are fighting a battle. That battle goes right to the very top of the food chain. Merkley and Wyden are taking steps every day to try to get this place a team.
Don't want to turn this into a political conversation but it you don't understand that this is way bigger than just financing a stadium then you are the one who lacks "Vision".

Then we have what is another thread. The CRC which if not started in the next 9 months drops off a freaking cliff because we lose the Federal grant money. If you don't think that bridge is in the equation then you my friend are sorely mistaken. That is another 2000 paychecks a week with just as much impact.
Right now we have the Abernathy Bridge going and that project alone is employing 700 men/women. Yes that plays a part as well. If people cannot get to the games then what use is a Ballpark?
