And over the last month or so the Dodgers bats have gone cold, give or take a few games.

Teams that are playing their best baseball heading into the postseason are usually the ones to watch out for.

Look I’m rooting for the Mariners but they just got beat in a throw away game by the Dodgers in Seattle.
And yes the Phillies are really good.
All I’m saying is two of those three teams are in the top 4 of payroll and I don’t care what year they are playing the Yankees are usually in the mix just like this year.
The Mariners are going to have to beat the Yankees from what I’m seeing. We all agree we want that to happen but until they do they are the challengers.

The same issues were happening then as now. The Yankees were paying players more and they were scouting much more than other teams.
My point stands. Money gets you players and the players get you into the pennant races. Winning the pennant gets you in the Series.
You don’t get in the series unless you are in the pennant races.

Sorry I stopped reading when you said you root for the Mariners but are sad they lost *checks notes* a throw away game against a team that also has nothing to play for? They won 17 of 19 yet you care enough to try to make a throw away game mean anything? Literally both teams are just trying to not get injured yet it held some reverence to say that?

    Thats flat out embarassing.

They are favored by most to win it all this year and they have the highest payroll. Try to keep up.

The Astros were eliminated. Oh no, what a bummer!
