Got home and turned it on in the 10th .... great game and leap frog the Rays to #2 WC spot. Jays get Boston and Baltimore to close out the season, will either team stay competitive in the final week or will they mail it in? Crazy that we were so close to having an entire division (AL East) at 500 or better, Boston can still make it happen but can't lose another game!
That hasn't meant a whole lot recently ... seems they've struggled more with the bottom tier teams than the ones at the top of the standings.
A lot of fans are Baltimore fans tonight cause people wanna win it at home instead of seeing Baltimore lose midway and then be like "yay we won! Okay 2-1 count" lol
Yeah I went to the GameDay cast to "watch" the extras lol. that game had me too stressed out.... Dunno how I'm gonna handle the playoffs lmao.
Yeah. Game and a half out from Toronto. Best case for us is either #1 WC or #3. homefield at least for 3 games, and then we play Houston if we win (blegh, but at least some home games before playing a juggernaut). Or #3 and a more favorable matchup but on the road against Cleveland to then face the Yankees if we win (an "easier" matchup that we at least had some success). #2 is great but man it'd be 5 straight road games at least and all against much better competition. But I wouldn't complain because again, we have elite pitching.
What's weird is they are hyping this up but the reality is, it's all about who they match up with at home since both teams will have home field. It's either do you wanna face SD or PHI/MIL? Would you want to face the dodgers or the Cardinals in the DS? That's more of what you're wanting to figure out.
I'd prefer to avoid the Dodgers until the NLCS, so prefer winning the division, personally. Also, would rather have the rotation lined up from the get go, and not deal with the wild card games at all. Too much can happen.
