When you are told the color of your skin makes you inherently racist I'd say you have a stake in the conversation.
That's a bullshit copout. I presumably have the same color skin as you and it doesn't make me racist. Perhaps some thoughts I have had at different times made me racist or at least made me have to confront racist tendencies, but it's also my thoughts and beliefs that keep me from being a racist. Not my skin color. but go ahead, Oh woe is me, everyones against poor Whitey McWhitefield. Grow a pair.
Ok I'll admit that alot of liberal leaning people don't necessarily adhere to the idea that the more hardcore ones present: the notion that being white inherently makes you racist. BUT, there are enough people out there spreading that idea that it's only fair to be able to muster a defense. How does racism not affect a white person when they are the accused in the eyes of so many people? I'm not saying "aw poor me", I didn't actually say anything for you to invent that sentiment on my behalf, it was just a cheap shot by you. I like how you managed to slip in your chickenshit "I'm not racist by the way" disclaimer while shitting all over me for basically saying the same thing.
The entire discussion is about white people being racist. From beginning to end. The only thing that will ever change is we'll eventually be the minority. Then we'll be discriminated against and they'll use that we were racist as the reason. Louis CK explained some of this. Whites wanting to hold onto that is perfectly natural. We're super fucked long term.
There is not one liberal in this forum nor anyone who I know who believes this. Biggest strawman ever.
The discussion might be about white people being racist, but it's not about ALL white people being racist. That notion is bullshit, and should never be subscribed to. The fact that you liked his post makes me think you didn't get this.
I clearly didn't single anyone out or even suggest there were people on the forum like that. I said there are people out there who believe that shit, and there are.
There are plenty of people who believe that by the way. I'd never say all of any race do anything (asian women being terrible drivers is the closest thing to 100 percent)
For every video you show there are a million people who don't believe that. I'd also wager to say that there are MANY more ACTUAL racists than people who believe all whites are racist. Where's your statement about them? See, your more worried about people who say all white people are racist than ACTUAL RACISTS... This is the problem.
Sorry if I went a little strong on my response. I’m about to rant on the subject: Not just your post but many tout a ridiculous far left bullshit premise and then use that position to argue against it, which often comes off as suggesting that the original concept or belief is held by most or even many when in actuality nobody or very few posters here ever subscribe to the idea. Another example is that “blacks can’t be racist”. Yes, there are folks who Believe that shit, but I’ve never heard that position supported by anyone I know. So, instead of taking these extreme, rarely held beliefs and ascribing them to your opponents, let’s talk about what people on these boards actually believe. Im sure I do the same thing with right-wing ideas. I will try not to. Every stit belief exists. Flat-earth for example. We can find 1000’s of videos and posts online supporting this bunk idea. But nobody I have ever met believes it. It would be crazy for me to bring this idea up, assign the wacko concept to some group that posts here and then to straw man against it. But we do this with race, religion and politics. It gets us nowhere.
That is fair. Presenting racism as a prevailing notion goes both ways though. For every white racist there are millions who aren't, as a response to your other comment. Both good comments. And fair enough. It's easier to group people together, then attribute the most extreme views in that group to ALL members of that group. What we end up doing is defending people we don't even respect or agree with (Trump and Hillary are good examples) just to try and prove a point. People would rather defend the most fringe people in their 'group' than the moderate ones from the 'other side', even though they probably have more in common with the moderates from the other side. We all just get duped into fighting with each other.
