I don't know if Jerome James is the best option out there, I don't think I'd give him the MLE. Dan Gadzuric is a guy I'd give the MLE to over JJ.

This is where the reference to Trading Kobe came from.

    The Without Kobe Way

    1. Kobe and Walton to portland for Zach Randolph + Damon+ Theo Im sure blazers would do this bcuz Shareef and Zach are playing at power, and they need a SG bad! And Walton could fill an empty bench seat. Plus the way Telfair has been playing they can move Damon. And pryzbilla took over Theo's job.
    2. Send T. Brown to NBDL why, cuz that's where he belongs.
    3. Trade Caron Butler for Melvin Ely. Why cuz Ely can play power and C and stepped up big during Emeka's absense.
    4. Fire Hamblen bcuz no1 likes him
    5. Hire Mo Cheeks
    6. Draft Monta Ellis kid plays like Ivey and we could use his scoring

BAM after this out lineup would be
    PG - Damon Staudemire
    SG - Monta Ellis
    SF - Lamar Odom
    PF - Zach Randolph
C - Theo Ratliff with Mevin Ely backing him up
    D. Staudemire
    Monta Ellis</div>

I'd keep Odom, Butler, Mihm, and Chucky. Chucky should strictly come off the bench for his scoring. Mihm I'd keep because he works hard, but he's got to have better handles, stronger hands, whatever. Butler is another hard worker, extremely versatile. Odom is so talented, so much fun to watch when he's aggressive, plus he's the leading rebounder on this team, but somehow, he disappears at times. Brian Grant is strictly for back-up, but his contract's an albatross on the teams's neck. He's got to go. I wouldn't mind trading any of the above.

batman dont u realize the only way lakers can get good talent is to give up good talent

Butler + Odom our only big time trade options

Caron is very expendable. He is a role player at best, but a great one at that if he can become consistent. A lot of teams would trade for him, I don't think he will be back here next year.

We could try trading him for carlos boozer, but the only problem with boozer is that i heard that the jazz owner wasn't too happy with, and the owner thinks that he isn't playing his best. carlos also has a big contract which will make the lakers expand their payroll even more. but still, trading for boozer means giving up another small forward, which is good since the lakers are stacked with them, also, the lakers should try to include brian grant in a package, since he has a huge contract. also, there has been talk that lakers are trying to trade odom for peja, I hope the talk continues and the lakers will get peja. also, if we trade grant, we will have money in the off season, which we can use to sign a good shot blocking and rebounding center, like strolimile swift.

We did try to trade for Boozer, but we pulled out because Boozer was in a walking cast, I wouldn't be surprised if we pursued that trade this offseason.

I would love Stro here in L.A., but I doubt we can get him.

I don't understand why we traded Shaq for basically nothing. The only person that I am happy with arriving is Lamar Odom and possibly Chucky Atkins. I feel that we should have kept Gary Payton. We could have traded Shaq for Dwayne Wade and Lamar Odom. Medevedenko could start as a centre and this would have been our line up:

    PG- Gary Payton
    SG-Kobe Bryant
    G-Dwayne Wade
    PF-Lamar Odom
    C-Medevdenko

I think that we should get rid of Chris Mihm, Brian Cook, Brian Grant and Caron Butler. We could get some good players for them. The defence is so bad. Our team relys on shooting threes. When you rely on 3's, it is risky because in games where you don't shoot well, you are going to lose. We need to improve on our defensive team.

We would of not got Lamar along with Wade, it was one or the other...should of been Wade, but then realize our GM..Kupcake, of course we didn't get Wade, if it was West in there, we would of got him.

Wait a minute...we could have got Wade in the Shaq deal? Does anyone have an old link to support that?

I found an article saying it would likely not involve Wade.

The offer from the Heat would involve Lamar Odom, Brian Grant and possibly a first-round draft pick. It's unlikely the Heat would make guard Dwyane Wade available. While Riley wouldn't specifically address the offer, he did acknowledge the idea that O'Neal is available.</div>

It is speculation, but I think Miami would of bit. The deal we got was pitiful, we have a soft GM who doesn't have a way with words so he accepted it...if we would of pressed for Wade instead of Odom, I believe we could of got him. [IMG]

Kupchak ruined a chance to get a big man and now we will have to suffer through some lottery years.

I believe that Wade was untouchable. Especially with how good he is, and his age. Shaq is the MDN (most dominant NOW, not EVER!). However, compared to the amount of years Wade has left...it would have been dumb on Pat Riley's part to part with him. I still dont like the deal the Lakers got..but no way it was going to involve Wade.
Gary Payton...whiney guy whose stats have declined and is at the end of his career. We have a poor man's version in Atkins. Granted Payton is better than Atkins... but he was not needed.
I like Mihm...he needs to get better on the road though. He has had an injured back of late...and I think with work he will get better. You can survive with a Mihm when you have Kobe...+ a good supporting cast. Get him a PF... even if he is a defensive expert who can grab rebounds. With that, and an outside threat...the Lakers have the makings of a good team.
