You're right. He seems to play more of a Euro game, going around and under defenders rather than zipping past or elevating over them. Interesting observation.
There is something to be said about the effectiveness of that if done correctly. One it shows bball smarts which is always a good thing and two, look at how well it has worked for Nash. I know you can really compare Nash and Tyreke overall but in this area (finshing at the hoop smartly and effectively) maybe you can.
I agree. The lack of athletic finishes do not worry me. The way he finishes at the basket is his strength. I have no idea about his D or his jumper in traffic. That would be my concern. But some apparently are adamant that he is pretty good at it.
I agree--I wasn't saying that as a bad thing. Much like with Andre Miller, a below-the-rim playing style could be an effective way to remain healthy and extend his career.
To be fair to Tyreke Evens, If Mathews played for the Kings I bet he would be in the same boat as Evens is. Just saying.
