I don't think anybody is opposing capitalism... All of the Nordic and Scandinavian countries are capitalism based economies. But trickle down economics is not a requirement for capitalism. In fact, it's devastating for healthy capitalism.
In my dad's depression era generation that usually meant having more kids ...probably why I'm kickin' around....nothing beats free farm labor with no paid vacation or wage...just room and board...both my parents were orphans during the depression and reunited with relatives after there was food and shelter to help them...mostly when they turned 18....Dad went to war in Europe ...mom met her mother and worked for Bell telephone during the war....Dad came back and built expansion bridges over the Missouri river and bought houses in our hometown and a pub...turned that into a 300 acre grade A dairy farm....that's social democracy sprinkled with capitalistic investments...
Trickle Down has been disproved over and over for decades now. You've got to be brain dead to fall for that at this time. Well, brain dead or very young, pretty much the same thing.
Some of you talk about hard work like it actually means something in regards to your income. If that was true then single moms would make more than CEOs. Face it guys the system is broken and these are the cracks.
single moms have employers to answer to? We are talking about on the job work ethics.. a single mothers’ daily duties is irrelevant unless its refering to the job she is employed by.
You read my post and decided my specific point was about the compensation rate of single mothers? Damn dude..........
you read my post and decided i decided your specific point was anything? Lol. just so im getting the rules of rebuttal correct here, we are talking about hard work in the work force. People doing as little as possible and expecting top dollar. You brought in single mothers. I commented on your single mother comment and thats out of line, or out of context to you? let me ask. What does a single mother have anything to do with whether some generations worked harder or less for their employers? We all know life is harder for a single mother but we weren't talking about life. We were discussing working for a wage.
Why do you make every discussion an aggressive strawman argument? Do you ever wonder why so many people have you on ignore?
So many questions. Under what system or measurement would you reward a single mother for the hard work of doing their job as a parent? Should their job pay them more because they chose to have kids? Would that incentivize divorce? And what's stopping the mother from investing or taking advantage of the opportunities to be had from capitalism? I guess there's something to be said about working smart as well as working hard. Nothing is stopping you from going after your dreams. On the flip side, Elon Musk for example has been known to work 120 hour work weeks. You don't get to where he's at by being lazy, so I'm not sure that analogy is even accurate. I guess we could embrace something like Communism since that would bring about equality - equally in poverty.
We essentially live in the world we have created. If we don't value living wages, social structure and family support then the people created by these circumstances will eventually become everyone's problem. Capitalism is cool and all but most people don't really have a sense of how big a billion is. For reference one millions seconds is 11 days. One billion seconds is 31.5 years. According to Google, Elon Musk is worth 295 billion. A little math says Elon Musk is worth 9292.5 years worth of seconds.
Average rent was 18.7% of the average monthly salary and a new house cost 225% of the average yearly salary. For comparison, in 2021, average rent is 26% of the average monthly income and a new house is 788% of the average yearly income.
was that really so aggressive? We were discussing the work ethic of generations. He brought in single mothers. I questioned the relevancy based on the topic of discussion is all… but instead of clarifying his point, he got emotional and went personal…
Honestly engaging with you sometimes is exhausting. You seem to purposely miss the point over and over. Even now your all hung up on the word aggressive and your trying to manufacturer some sort of victim complex about it but you seem to be fine with the strawman part?
