Us unwilling to part ways with Lamar Odom shows me the franchise still has faith in him. I still have faith in Lamar, as crazy as it sounds, but he hasn't even shown any signs yet of returning back to his top level
Why would the Nets rebuild with Kwame, Mihm and Farmar on their roster? They can get some real players for Kidd.

Kwame Brown is one of the best post defenders in the league, Chris Mihm has an expiring contract, and Jordan Farmar is one of the top rookies in the league (which is why he's in the Rookie/Sophmore game), not to mention the Lakers will also throw in a couple of draft picks. Jason Kidd's value isn't as high as most of you think. He's getting up there in age, and his contract isn't at all friendly. The Sixers barely got anything for Allen Iverson, so what makes you think the Nets can get great talent for Jason Kidd?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Brian:</div><div class="quote_post">Like who? Kwame Brown is one of the best post defenders in the league</div> Enough said right there. Just stop. He gets like 2 fouls in the first 5 minutes of the 1st quarter. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Brian:</div><div class="quote_post">Jason Kidd's value isn't as high as most of you think.</div> 14.3ppg/8.7apg/8rbs/1.6stls His value looks quite high to me.

<div class="quote_poster">CLos Wrote</div><div class="quote_post"> Enough said right there. Just stop. Look how much the Sixers got for Allen Iverson. Practically nothing. What makes you think the Nets can get an All-Star in return for Jason Kidd
Kidd Comments on Lakers <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">No offense to the Golden State Warriors, but as far as Jason Kidd was concerned, as a kid growing up in San Francisco the Lakers were the only basketball team worth watching. "I was 12, 13 years old. It was right in that Showtime Era," Kidd said. "Magic Johnson was my favorite player. I thought about wearing No.32 and taking his spot. The unfortunate thing is that I didn't grow up to be 6-9." With Kidd's New Jersey Nets struggling to a 25-29 record as next week's trading deadline approaches, Kidd's name has begun popping up in trade rumors, most recently in connection with the Lakers. Asked about the possibility of being traded to his favorite childhood team, Kidd said, "With the history of the Lakers, you definitely can't be disappointed. Just the tradition, what they have as a franchise, you're not going to say you would be disappointed. "There's a lot of stuff that's going on. In this league, you've always got one bag packed. I learned that real fast. With the Lakers, or whoever it may be, if you get that call, you have to go. Right now, my job is to try to get us into the playoffs."</div> Link Seems like he wouldn't mind being in purple and gold

Iverson demanded a trade, J-Kidd hasn't. Plus Billy King is about as incompetent as it gets when it comes to GM's (you should know that), Rod Thorn is a good GM.
Yeah, but either way, if you trade an All-Star player, you aren't going to get one back in return. Do I think the Lakers are going to get Jason Kidd? Like I already said, I highly doubt the Lakers are going to get him
Maybe It's Not So Farfetched After All <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Rumors continue to circulate that Nets management is considering sending Kidd to the Lakers for what would be a meager return -- Kwame Brown, Jordan Farmar, a collection of expiring contracts, and a draft pick that will fall in the 20s -- if only because it would lift his $19 million salary off next year's cap and expedite a rebuilding process that looks more inevitable with each passing week. </div> Link
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Kidd's agent told him several clubs are interested in acquiring the New Jersey Nets' star point guard for the stretch run. Though Kidd says his first desire is to return to the playoffs with the Nets, the club's struggles and his increasingly contentious divorce proceedings could make a fresh start attractive. "They have to do what's best for the franchise if the team is underachieving," Kidd said of the Nets, 25-29 and 4 1/2 games behind Toronto in the Atlantic Division. "Business always gets in the way of basketball, so you just have to be happy with wherever you might end up." Kidd dropped out of the All-Star game Wednesday because of a back injury, but still showed up in Las Vegas along with other injured stars. He was careful not to lobby for a trade, but acknowledged the growing possibility with something less than disappointment. "Always have your bag packed," he said. Kidd actually wouldn't cite specific suitors, but the Oakland native has always thought favorably about a return to California -- perhaps with the Lakers, who could use his skills. "I've heard the (potential) takers, but you don't know what to believe," Kidd said. "Everybody has their inside source." And his favored destination? "The A's," he joked. "The Raiders." </div> Link
I proposed a 4 team trade involving Gasol, Deng, Odom, and Kidd where all teams involved would benefit. Kidd would end up here for Odom and Mimh. You guys should look in the member proposed trade thread in the off topic section if your interested. Not bad for Lakers fans and Kobe fans like myself. I would become a Lakers fan if L.A. somehow acquired Kidd because that would be the best backcourt in the league by far.
Please please please, let's land Kidd. I still cringe at us letting go Farmar and Kwame(more so Kwame than Farmar). I'd prefer if we gave up someone like Mihm, Mckie, and some other filler. PLEASE!!!!! MITCH!!!!!
I'm not getting my hopes up. It seems like every trade deadline in recent memory, we're always going after someone, but we never get a deal done. I'm not expecting Kidd in a Lakers uni anytime soon, though it would be nice
You guys were supposed to get Artest, Garnett, and now Kidd. You should've learned by now not to get your hopes up.
Last night David Aldridge and Magic Johnson confirmed the Lakers want Jason Kidd and Jason Kidd has asked to be traded to the Lakers. Right now it's just a matter of agreeing to the right pieces. Maybe they can get a third team involved?

I can't believe you're pushing my buttons like this. Now you've got my hopes high. Damn, if nothing goes through, I'm gonna be so sad
