The crazy thing is it’s part of his strategy. Let the main guy go off so no one else gets in a rhythm. It really only works against Westbrook, because he tends to take stupid and selfish shots late in games. Against everybody else it’s dumb.

Look at how teams defend Portland. They hedge on Dame and CJ and rotate a wing under the basket on the Nurk pick and roll. They make Aminu and co beat them. If they do, you can live with it, because if it were a series, it’s highly unlikely they’d do it four times.

    Not quite.

Since start of last season, Blazers 5-14 when allowing 35+, 3-6 allowing 40+, 2-3 allowing 45+.

Both wins over a player scoring 45+ were against Westbrook.

Saying you can't play help defense defies basketball logic.

I'm really pissed at that quote...

That would actually be a great stat... how many times has OKC won with westbrick having 40+ points.

Since you asked, OKC was actually 10-8 last season when Russell hit 40 (9-6 against teams that aren't the Blazers).

This year, his season high is 37.

By far, the LEAST surprising stat in this thread - or any thread.

Yup, the eye test proves correct. I've been complaining about this since then, and people didn't really realize how bad it was until now. Stotts acts like there's no better option, yet I'd love to see our record in those games. Maybe it's fine but there's no way we should let stars go off more than any other team. It's ridiculous. Dwight Jaynes has rightfully questioned his coverage, and Stotts has been extremely condescending in his responses even though the stats back up Jayne's assertions.

I might make a video breaking down why I think Stotts needs to go, with film and stats like this.

If that's something that you guys wanna see, let me know.

Yep. If you share it, more people who have their heads in the sand will take notice.
Stotts gets away with a lot of poor coaching because he's a "nice guy" and people like him.

What comments has he made? I'd love to see his responses to Jaynes.

And a video about stotts would be awesome.
