    Fuck Pritchard.

That's the SAME MUTHAFUCKA who lied to us when he told us Oden's knees were "pristine"...

Then we offered a healthy package for PG and he punks his own team by swallowing Oladipo's contract.

He will reap what he sows...

I'm pretty sure Denver is a bigger market with more money, and more diversity, than Portland.

Yes. Portland will never be the Gotham that Denver is.

I just love how he correctly changes the y to an i to make it one word.

    Grammar is important!

When 3 guys (Dame, CJ, Nurk) make $90M combined, there isn't much cap space left for the rest of the roster. In the meantime, while Nurk isn't making his $MAX kind of money, we have players instead of unused cap/LT space.

Yeah, but did they predict that Hayward would sign for 2^2 years for 2^7 mil? :)

    haha

They can't adjust the odds after there's betting done on them.

But to say they're influenced by hype of player acquisitions isn't reality.

Oddmakers don't make bets/predictions themselves--they move the odds to ensure equal money on both sides as best they can. They don't make their money by "beating" the betting public, they make their money off all the transaction fees. It's as risk-free profit as possible. Odds are driven by the gamblers themselves.

And the gamblers driving the odds are probably influenced by the splashy moves exactly as I said. You seemed to be confused, thinking that the oddsmakers were the ones trying to predict how the teams would do.

The odds don't move that much. Gambler's aren't making stupid bets with real money. Unless they're making homer bets for the fun of it (like $10 on the Blazers to win the championship at high odds)

There's smart money and casual money. I think the casual money is pouring in right now. I think experienced gamblers would either try to get in on a team they expect to make some big moves before they happen (while they can get a good price) or else wait out all the moves (so they have some certainty in making their forecasts).

Depends on the odds. Smart money will stay away from the Celtics (for example) if their moves don't give them a real shot at even beating the Cavs.

Homer bets are just that. The bettor doesn't care about the odds, they're sky high and it's an unlikely bet to win.

I wouldn't expect just casual money to be pouring in right now. In fact, people are likely to be waiting for the draft, then free agent signings and trades, before making an educated bet.

I agree that Olshey would have spent money last summer even if he knew he was going to sign Nurk, but probably not as much as he ended up spending. I suspect he would have signed Turner and re-signed Harkless. Matching on Crabbe would have made him think about how he was going to juggle the money when it comes time to re-sign Nurk, presumably at a max or near-max price tag. He probably could have picked up a serviceable 2G at a lot lower price tag. No way in hell he would have wasted money on Leonard if he knew Nurk was coming down the pike.

You can't predict the future, so I don't expect he could either :)

Without 20-20 hindsight, Crabbe could have taken a big step forward from where he was (which was quite good already). Then what? I note he still can step up.

Turner is probably at his ceiling as a player, but he still improved a terrible bench, and in MY opinion would be an upgrade starting at SF.

Maybe he would have let Mo and Leonard walk. Along with the $7.7M he used on Ezeli (he spent money...) gets you Nurk's salary.

Starting lineup of Dame, CJ, Nurk, ET, and Vonleh. I could live with that.

Bench of Aminu, Davis, and scrubs. We saw how pathetically weak we were without Nurk in the playoffs. We'd be without Leonard.

We'd still be over the LT, just ~$30M lower in two years than if we stand pat.

Seriously, though, I don't think the plan was ever to stand pat every season.
