    I don't think the plan was to stand pat last season or any season. I get why Olshey did what he did last summer and don't have any objection to his reasoning in making the moves he did. I do know that he's going to have to get creative to find a way to re-sign Nurkic without putting the team into multi-year luxury tax hell. Dumping Meyers would be a help.

    When you spend $90M out of $120M on 3 players, you have to get creative in a big way, to fill out the roster. About $3M/player for the rest, to fill 13.

    Even Rookie Scale is greater than the $3M/player (average).

    Some guys are going to have to be Vet Minimum/D-League types.

    Unless we have a contender and old vets are willing to take the minimum to chase a ring with us.

    Fortunately, Dame and CJ will "only" be at $54M combined in 2018. Assuming Nurkic starts at around $25M, that's "just" $79M.

    That may be true but D69 had Giannis rated Top-3 in that draft and Gobert Top-5 in his. He's been spot on so many times, I think the Blazers should hire him as a consultant.

    Denver has a Metro Population of 2.8mil compared to Portland's 2.3mil.

    I think the big difference is that Denver has no close competition with Wyoming, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada..used to be anyway...Portland has Seattle, San Francisco, Oakland, Sacramento and Salt Lake City to thin the fanbase herd a bit more

    I think Neil right now is like one of those Great White sharks off the coast of South Africa, circling the little island of seals waiting for one to go for a swim... aka he's sitting back waiting for a team in need of help with their roster situation. Boston is a great example if we could take on a larger salary figure for a shorter period of time we would be in better shape as long as we don't drop talent level... side step is fine.
