I like the three target ideas. I would prioritize Ibaka. Get him first, and then see what we have left to get Noel.. If we can get Ibaka without giving up Plumlee, then I wouldn't be too interested in Bogut.

I think his thought process is to have 2 ball-handlers in the starting lineup, that Crabbe/Harkless together at 2/3 puts too much pressure on Dame.

However, he's basically suggesting to relegate CJ to 24 mpg, which is silly, so it doesn't really matter.

No offense but @Blazer4ever your rotation suggestions kinda suck. They rely on starting inferior players and getting scrubs minutes while sacrificing CJ's time on the floor.

CJ as a 6th player doesn't have to mean less minutes

Can you give an indication of how CJ would still get 35 mpg while not starting? Presumably he also wouldn't start the 3rd quarter (since teams almost always use the same lineup to start each half). Unless you're suggesting that CJ come in with 6 minutes left in the first quarter and then play non-stop until halftime, then yes, CJ being a 6th man would by definition mean fewer minutes.

Having just one small guard wasn't an endorsement of Crabbe's play. Just that defensively we match up better and more people get the chance to be involved on offense...which makes them more involved on defense. Crabbe has been nothing special at all but I like the defensive tone so much better with just one small guard. Adding in whatever CJ would bring makes me think this could be really good. CJ is very good (offensively) but it's just too much of a duplication on offense AND on defense.

CJ could play close to 33 mpg as a 6th man if we use the last 10 years of the 6th man award records as an example:

By the way, I'm not advocating CJ being the 6th man this season.

First, I think it is too early to decide if the defensive improvement is because of only one smaller guard or if it is due to the change Stotts put in to tweak the scheme on the defensive-end, which coincided with the first game Dame missed.
Second, Frazier got a DNP CD last night (Did Not Play Coaches Decision) and hasn't played more then 7 minutes a game in his last 3. Looks like he only shines when teams are out of other options.

It doesn't work. Crabbe should not take minutes away from CJ. And anyone using the last 2 games to advocate him starting is being silly. He's still only averaging 10 Pts per in those starts. His D is MARGINALLY better than Dame/CJ.

    Stop overrating him.

I would be for it if he played more like Wesley when he was starting with Dame. I was hoping for Crabbe to become a player like that.

To get Ibaka, I think it would take CJ.

Plus you have to assume he's going to leave via UFA in the offseason, no?

I am not proposing this trade. I just used the trade machine to get an idea of the size of salaries needed to make a trade work.

Now that I know it takes a $24.3M contract on our part, I can substitute $24.3M worth of contracts to avoid including Dame (obviously we wouldn't deal him and CJ):

This would put the team in the LT though.

I've got to disagree with this...he plays way better TEAM defense than either Dame or CJ....what I like is that defense seems to come first with Crabbe starting and offense is a second option. I like what I saw and I've been as disappointed in Crabbe as anybody leading up to the last couple games.

    Me, too.

We've looked like a very different team the last two games. Like the team we expected all along. There's every reason to expect this kind of play from this lineup going forward.

We do have to see when Dame comes back if we can play like this, too.

Past performance is no guarantee of future performance.

I remember Crabbe played really well when Batum went down couple years ago...I don't think we lost a game he started in. ..CJ and Dame try but really have to foul a good scorer to get a stop ..I'm stoked to see Stotts go this route

But he's not. He's not the defender Wes was, nor does he put up enough shots to be as good. He's not yet the player that Wes USED to be.

playing with the starting unit is a different animal than coming off the bench.....Crabbe to me could become better than Wes at the 2 playing with the core...we don't need him AND Turner coming off the bench...they are too much alike...Crabbe is better at two things than Wes was...dribbling and finishing a layup...Wes would bring wide open layups on a fast break and Wes dribbled the ball up to his chin

Even in the last couple of games he's really been non existent. He did almost nothing in the 2nd half of the SAC game when they have no one to guard him.

People really need to stop overrating him. We played solid defense with the same starters last year.

I'd love to see Dame and Crabbe start and CJ and Turner with the bench mob.....improve both units

Crabbe and Turner are nothing alike. Not in the slightest.
