<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Swish15:</div><div class="quote_post">He can dunk and block a couple of shots every game. Big whoop.

When he played for the Magic I wasn't very impressed by him. He is a bench player and unless he improves his work ethic, that's all he will ever be.</div>
No one is claiming he is anything other than a bench player, but the fact is the 76ers statistically have the worst bench in the league, and trading Hunter for future picks does not change that fact it just makes it worse. Who are we going to use now the ever talented Michael Bradley? Or maybe the raw rookie Shavlik Randolph? Neither of those guys will give us better production then Hunter. Randolph might pull down a few more boards, but his offensive game is not as good as Hunters, nor is Bradley's. King is basically giving up on this season by making this trade, that if unless it leads to a bigger trade, which does not appear imminent.

Hunter has potential... but he will never live up to it, in my opinion, and that is one of the reasons he was traded.

Williams is welcome here with open arms. This move almost certainly means we are getting Williams. Before we were going to send Kevin Ollie to Toronto for Williams, but the Raptors did not want to take on Ollie's contract. The TE we got from the Marc Jackson trade matches Eric's salary close enough to where we could trade a couple of draft picks for him, and give Toronto the exception. This way we aren't over the luxury tax because of the Hunter move.

I wonder why the Raptors didn't just trade Eric Williams for Steven Hunter? If you think the 76ers have problems at Center, just imagine having to start Arajao every night.

Assuming the Eric Williams deal goes through, I think it's a solid trade for Philly. He can bring some energy off the bench, and plays pretty good defensively when he makes an effort.

If we trade Ollie for Williams, King should just be fired. Please. Ollie and Iggy are really the only people on our team that play consistent good D every time they are on the floor. Iggy's D is really good so this year he may just be playing "good defense" instead of great. Its still above average. Hunter and Ollie or Williams and draft picks? East choice. I would give a 2nd round pick in 06, since we have 2, and thats it.

I agree, I would rather have Hunter than Williams and two 2nd round draft picks. I think Hunter still has the potential to grow, but hey I hope the best for him with the Hornets.

You're overreacting. I agree that Hunter is underrated as a player, but he wasn't all that crucial to your team. As Shape said earlier, there must be another trade in the works. That's why the article point out that the 76ers roster is currently at 14 players.

A lot of people here are overestimating Hunter's worth. Forget about potential... he has tons of it, but from what I can see he will not reach it.

He doesn't need to reach it for the trade to be a good win for the Hornets.

I was talking about Sixers fans...

No doubt this is a good trade for the Hornets, but this isn't as bad of a move for the Sixers as many people think it is... my final judgement will depend on what we do next, but I am pretty happy with this trade.

Why would Toronto want Kevin Ollie? Wth James, Calderon and Martin, they're set at point guard, unless Ollie is meant to be insurance for the trade of Mike James? I haven't heard anything from the Raptors comp.

I think some people are misunderstanding what I said. I said that the Sixers offered Ollie, but the Raptors did not want Ollie unless they could get rid of Mike James.

Exactly. Don't you think they know that? Obviously this means they are not done and they plan on using what they got(draft picks) in order to acquire another player.

It ends in 2007, but he has a player-option to terminate it at the end of next season.

Now they are saying Hunter didn't pass his physical, so that means the trade isn't valid yet.

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Jerry West:</div><div class="quote_post">He is certainly far superior to ANYTHING Philly will bring in from the bench to relieve Sammy though.

Hunter is a talent and he will show it with the Hornets.</div>

Agreed...I thought Hunter would flourish as someone who can block shots, rebund and run the floor, but I guess I was wrong...but, man, the Hornets are building a nice, young team over there...
