Many in Tampa lost power, but my neighbors said my neighborhood didn't. Trees across the street blew over, but (unimaginably) my diseased, 40 y/o pines that I'm just waiting for the permit from the county before I chop them down, are still standing. Of course Irma couldn't save me a few grand in tree-removal... The predicted storm surge never really materialized in Tampa, though South Tampa flooded similarly to if there was a wetter-than-normal rainstorm. Our kids' school's courtyard had about 6 inches pooled up, but even that's mostly gone now. I'm heading back on the first flight tomorrow to help with cleanup and assess the house. Family will stay in AZ until everything's back in order. Gramma's house is warm, big and has a pool.
My power came back while i was sitting on the couch unpacking so i opened the fridge and beer was still cold. I was probably only without power for a couple hours tops. Everything in freezer still frozen through. Yay.
