I knew Barkley would go off with a real OL and team. I used to laugh when morons thought McCafferty was better. That being said, he wouldn't have done shit on the Giants compared to Philly. That and he will get hurt again. Just a matter of time. Unless they take Hunter, I would not take any QB in this draft. I would trade back multiple times in the first round to acquire as many extra 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th rounders as possible. Hope for Manning next year. Giants need to draft a young FG kicker. At least 2 fast, athletic, strong inside LB's if they wish to play the 3-4. They need another WR with size. They need a G, LT that can play G because Thomas is never healthy. Their center doesn't look at that great either. They need a number 1 CB. A much better safety to go with Nubin. They need a ton of other stuff besides QB. Moron Schoen should have traded Slayton and Ojuari at the deadline. I would have moved Okereke as well. Not moving Neal to guard is just fn stupid. He sucks at tackle. At least try to get something out of that pick. Said it for the last two years. This dumbass GM has no clue how to acquire extra picks. When your team sucks and needs to rebuild, that is a death sentence to a fan base.
I see the Barkley thing differently. He was always a great player, you could see that on the Giants also, even though he had a terrible supporting cast, he still was great and had some great seasons. With that said, the Giants still were terrible. Not Barkley's fault at all, but they were awful despite his greatness. Let's say they kept him this season, guess what, they'd still be terrible. Maybe they'd have 3 or 4 wins if Barkley was here, but still a terrible team. And with an extra win or two they'd be getting a worse draft pick, so it would be an even worse situation, as it has been the past 5 years +. I think moving on from him was absolutely the right move, they sucked with him, and now they are even worse without him which is better for a team in their situation so they can get a higher pick. The case you could make is why not trade him at the DL last season instead of letting him walk, and that's fair, but odds are you weren't getting this huge haul for Barkley at the DL last season, that isn't usually the case in the NFL. So, while I think that was a better path, I don't think they missed this huge opportunity to get a haul for him. I would say the Giants are better off without Barkley, two steps back for hopefully two steps forward in the future. Where they F'd up IMO is they should have moved on from Jones sooner as well. The only "good news" there is his contract was essentially for two seasons, and they don't have this huge cap hit hanging over their heads going forward. Where the Giants are right now, I would tell you they should have been two years ago, finally absolutely terrible, should finally get a top 3 pick, let's get a new QB of the future, and start from the bottom up. Maybe stupidly, but I am actually an optimistic Giants fan because they are bottoming out now, then they can build back up. Winning 5 or 6 games and never getting a top 3 pick is not a recipe for turning it around, bottoming out was/is their best bet. Now don't go F it up by winning 2 or 3 of your final 6 games. I am really rooting for no better than 1-5 in their last 6 games. Winning at Dallas would be a bad thing, as that would almost guarantee they'll win 4 or 5 games overall. It starts with losing at Dallas, do that and I think 3-14 is very possible.
Philly RB coach convinced Saquon to stay on his feet and stop leaping in the air where he has no leverage, obviously their OL helps tremendously and I think it helps that there are other stars on the team takes the pressure off. The Giants need to clean house, after another sub 500 years I'm beginning to relate to the Jets fans.
It's amazing the Giants will try and do everything they can to blow the opportunity to get the # 1 pick. Down 14-3 and try to make a useless comeback, but thankfully their ineptness knows no bounds, and a short 35-yard FG was blocked. With the Jags win, the Giants are sitting at # 2, now we need to hope the Raiders get a win, but even if they don't, the Giants are on track to have no worse than the 2nd pick. Their next two games should be L's for sure, home against Baltimore and at Atlanta. Their last two are the bigger concerns, home against the Colts and at the will have the division clinched and be resting everyone Eagles. I am sure the Eagles wouldn't mind losing that game preventing the Giants from getting the # 1 or # 2 pick. There are currently six teams with 3 wins, as the Jets collapse in Miami. So even getting a 3rd win puts the Giants in a big mix for the 2nd pick (assuming the Raiders lose out), and they could fall much further out of the top 5 with a better SOS. Need to stay at 2 wins, and hope the Raiders beat the Jags in Vegas in a couple weeks. Today was a big L in a "winnable" game, so close, don't blow it now.
Great day for the Giants as the Raiders won, leaving the Giants as the only 2 or less win team remaining in the league. Lose at home to the Colts and at the Eagles and the Giants get the # 1 pick no matter what else happens. I can see them winning a game though, as it would be their way to do so, and the Eagles will be playing their C team in week 18 with absolutely nothing to play for (and I'm sure they'd love to knock the Giants out of the top pick). If the Giants do unfortunately get a win and finish 3-14, they cannot pick worse than 5th as the Titans/Jags play next week, meaning one team will get their 4th win. That would leave at most five teams with 3 wins including the Giants. Do not blow it now, lose your next two games and get the # 1 pick. Not a great year for QB's, but I would assume they'd take Sanders or Ward.
Don’t pick Sanders. For the love of god. The kid figured out the “glitch” for stat keeping. Hold onto the ball and take sacks instead of throwing the ball away and getting incompletions thereby hurting your QBR. He holds onto the ball for an eternity, gets sacked and then his daddy blames the oline. Whatever team drafts Sanders will either have to break him of that habit or else they’ll be getting a bust.
