Some of us wanted Riley fired a lot longer than 3 years ago.

Not to mention it was after a couple of Seasons of poor performance , not just a four game losing streak where the duck fans go from hoisting him above their heads to throwing
Him in the trash ... lol

I could probably link you posts from years back after he took over where I was unimpressed with him and thought he wouldn't last long term.

You likely could. I really wasn't calling you out specifically. My good friends are texting me saying Helf's gotta go, etc etc. So It's just a theme amongst a lot of the duck fans.

The theme is Helf sucks dick. It's not hard to understand.

I mean he hired Pellum, never a DC, then KEPT HIM (something I would never do because of the kids looking up to him), and then hired Hoke who was also never a DC.

You mean, Duck fans are able to accurately and intelligent assess the situation with their head coach? You make it sound like there's something wrong with that.

Easiest money made in a long time betting against the Ducks this season.... And I'm a fan.

But my opinion was from the day they hired him is that he was Jim Lambright 2.0 and took a lot of flak for that when he took them to the National Championship game. That opinion had not changed.

His teams have been a mess outside of 2 very good QB's who helped carry the program. Losing Ganges 60-24 and 70-21 in the lady two seasons when your starting QB is out tells me that success has much more to do with a senior quarterback that someone else developed than anything he is doing as a head coach.

I still think he is a very good offensive coordinator, but he is NOT a head coach at this level and recruiting under his tenure has taken a dive.

I went to work last night and an entire household of die hard Duck fans switched to the Beaver game.....made me chuckle! Beavs defense looked great..they had a zillion yards rushing...very different looking Beaver team.....I think the Beavs take the civil war game this time

It seems like pretty much every Duck reporter is advocating for Helfrich to keep his job, do they get more fun out of writing about mediocrity or something?

I've neve understood the culture of "never fire the coach" at Oregon. Somebody doesn't do well at one job.... "Oh, just rehire him as a position coach." There are even people saying Helfrich shold just go back to being OC. One of the freshmen players said that upperclassman aren't even trying.... He's'a lost the team.

:mad2: It's time to sweep the whole staff off the table. They need a proven winner.

I hope Helfrich stays there for many years to come!

I also don't understand the fans saying "if we fire Helfrich who are we going to get to replace him so don't bother doing anything to fix it?!?"

We have the worst team in the Pac 12, any even average coach would be a massive upgrade to him at this point.

Here's the thing - we were never going to get a fully accurate representation of his coaching until Mariota left. And once MM was gone, the team has pretty much sucked ass.

Many duck fans have been down on Helfrich for a couple years now. Just because you're just now noticing it doesn't mean it's brand new.

I don't think Helfrich is the right coach. He is a better cheerleader than he is a leader. Just doesn't appear to be real intimidating. I don't think it's going to help the program by relieving him of his duties right now. I'm all for it at the end of the season. And think they need to if they are going to get this righted.

The area they have really lost ground in is recruiting. I don't even think with the glitz and recruiting facilities they finished in the top 30. Granted, they aren't paying the man from Texas but Bellotti seemed to manage ok in that area without having to cut a check when he was coach.
