If another star wants to play here, creating space should not be a problem since we have cap friendly contracts and they would want to play with Aldridge instead of a rookie.
Right, but that wasn't being discussed. In the scenario I was responding to, LMA is traded to the Lakers, cap space is cleared, and a player who at the very least is at LMA's level wants to play for the Blazers on a max contract. Seems easier to just sign LMA to a max contract and try to upgrade the rest of the roster outside of LMA and Lillard via trade.
I just don't see any point in trading LA at this juncture. We're not going to get back what we would need out of the deal. At the very least, we would need a young star and a lottery pick. We're better off trying to pick up some more pieces for the bench and letting it ride. This team needs a bench. I think LA has AT LEAST two or three more really good years. With a better bench, I think this team could contend.
He had a crappy series, he got good numbers but definitely didn't look great but he looked DOMINANT the series before and was a force almost all season.
Cleveland would do the deal for LaMarcus, right? They wanted him last year and he's even better this year. I doubt anything happens, but it's fun to discuss since it's going to be a long offseason.
You said Splitter "owned" LMA. I was merely posting the stats from that series. Nothing about an "eye test" was in the conversation.
Would have to be for one of the top five players in the NBA, a Carmelo Anthony type. If they were dumb enough to do it this draft, with it's depth, I'd do it in a millisecond. Take Wiggins or that Aussie PG in a heart beat. Move Lillard to SG and wait a few years to have to best two guard combo in NBA history. Give's me a woody!!!!
So where do Wiggins and Anthony fit in to Lillard moving to SG? Neither are PGs. As for the Aussie guard, who are you talking about? The Australian version of Ricky Rubio, or the next Patty Mills or Shane Heal?
My guess is Cleveland wouldn't offer all of that for Aldridge. I wouldn't want to do that deal. But it'd be awfully difficult to pass up. Lillard/Matthews/Batum/Thompson/Rolo Waiters/Wiggins/Robinson/Varejao rotation.
http://nbadraft.net/players/dante-exum Dry a different aftershave, Flinty Narcissism isn't working for you.
That's basically the offer they made last year. Aldridge is making 14 million so they would have to find some kind of filler.
Agreed. Just don't think they would offer all that for Adridge unless Lebron told them if they got Aldridge he'd sign as well
I really don't think they value those guys that much. Maybe Varejao, but he would be needed to make the salaries match.
They have like15-20 million in cap space, they don't need to do a deal to match salaries, they just agree in principle to the deal. Whether they like Waiters or not, he's still young enough that they're not including him out of dislike they'd look to swap him for a better fit if need be.
Yes, now that we've reached the 2nd round of the playoffs with a good group of young guys who want to be here and are on the verge of contending, I'd say it's the perfect time to rebuild. The draft is a girl in a pretty dress, but maybe we should be focusing elsewhere...
