He more or less shit on my profession an millions of Americans so there you go. Besides I wouldn't bake someone who advocated mass murder / euthanasia a cake, even if it was there birthday. Here is the Birthday boy's pearls of wisdom. In response of what to do to fix the homeless problem he offers up a solution... I'm done with this forum the reasonable folks are out numbered or at least out vitrioled. This forum is a microcosm for the country.
I have been involved with numerous different advocacy groups paid and unpaid to address this and other things. You were defending Mr. "Let them die in the streets" I assumed by your response you were on the same page. My bad if you aren't. I agree that illegals should be deported by the way, but I don't think that would help the homeless problem much.
I don't know what he said, don't care. His remark won't sway anyone any more than the Heil Hitler stuff does for health care. It was his birthday thread so I took his defense as a natural reaction. Sorry.
No probs and to be fair I hope Dante has a great birthday and gains some respect for his fellow humans. I also hope that he is never as unfortunate as those he would rather see dead then stain his sight. I was hoping he would relent and say it was silly. Stupid of me to bring it up.
Dante I apologize for being a dick in your birthday thread. I do hope you rethink your position on the homeless.
The next time I'm at a Blazers game that free chalupa coupons are handed out, I'm seriously considering collecting all that I can from whomever (many people don't even want/use them), then stick them in my glove box. When I'm at a stoplight and a transient/homeless person asks for money, I'll hand him/her a couple. Couldn't hurt.
Of course it could, think of how badly the public would view homeless people if they were all fat. My girlfriend used to want to give them money but we keep a box of chewy granola bars in the back seat most of them time. The best part is that they are in the car in Vegas so they stay nice and soft. MMM, chewy granola bars.......(homer voice) I used to be nicer to them but they sneak up on you here now, seriously.
Naw. I woke up this morning and I still feel like homeless people failed at life and deserve no help from tax payers. It is not my fault they decided drugs over a job. Now homeless CHILDREN... that is a different story. They cannot go get a job. They cannot provide for themselves. So yes. Homeless KIDS have my heart. But homeless adults get no love from me.
It's not about "respect for fellow humans" to me. Rapists, murderers and even George Bush are human. That doesn't mean I have to respect them. You cannot sit here and tell me that 90% of homeless ADULTS have not had a history with drugs and making bad decisions in their lives. I do not have respect for failed drug addict fucks who fucked up their life SO MUCH that they can't even get a part time job pumping gas to get a studio apartment and feed themselves. No worries. I am the last person on this forum who deserves any kind of apology from anyone. I dish it out, and I can take it too. You are right, that wouldn't hurt. And don't get me wrong. I give coins to the veterans on the freeway if I have spare. If I have a gatorade or an extra taco in my car from my way back to lunch, I will give it to a bum too. But in the back of my head I KNOW... that he would rather have a beer or a bag of weed. Or some meth. Just last week, my friend saw a bum sleeping on the sidewalk by his house. He brings the man something to drink (green tea) and a blanket. The man turned down the green tea and asked for beer. He took the blanket though. Anyhow...
As a part of growing up (lol see what I did there I related it to the thread) you should come to the realization that painting an entire group of people as X based on the limited examples you have encountered is not the best way to live your life. That's Shooter/Talkhard territory. It sounds like your views are at least somewhat politically motivated, which is fine, I'm not going to try and change them. I just ask that you try and grasp that homelessness is FAR more complex of an issue than you are boiling it down to. It doesn't always boil down to drugs and bad decisions.
