It's like if you gave a roofer $10k to put a new roof on your home because the old one is falling in on you. The roofer takes your $10k and splits it with his buddy on a spree in Vegas, and then disappears.

You will have to hire another roofer and come up with another $10k to fix your roof. Would you blame the first roofer, or the 2nd roofer?

What would you say if the 2nd roofer just decided to take the money to fix your roof and charge you $40k to plant a palm tree in your backyard, adding to your debt, just because the palm tree will block out the wind and sun damage of your roof over 100 years.

If the roof lasted 100 years it would probably be a wise investment since my children will inherit the home and the 4-5 roofs I would need in that time would cost much more.
