Just to be clear, I wasn't making a jab at previous arguments we have had. Your parenthetical comment made me realize it could be read that way. I was simply interested.
Country gravy + ketchup + tabasco + egg yolk (over easy egg)+ way too much pepper, over biscuits and hashbrowns. Un-fuckin-believable. Problem is I can't eat it in front of anybody without them staring, asking questions, or dry-heaving.
I've seen cream cheese and bacon sandwiches around from time to time. It seemed like a very non-intuitive combination. But I tried it and thought it tasted great. Especially on Dutch Crunch bread.
same way i eat it, but no ketchup. with prime rib on the side. i HATE HATE HATE raw tomatoes on burgers/sandwiches/salads/etc, but love salsa. i hate it when spahgetti sauce has big chunks of stewed tomatoes.
You had me until the egg yolk. I love skillets, and could see someone putting ketchup along with the gravy. But you gotta add some sausage to that, right?
My mother passed some of these along to me. Egg noodles mixed with cottage cheese. Yum! White tuna fish as a side for pancakes. Tastes great with syrup.
It wouldn't be real country gravy without sausage chunks. The egg yolk puts it over the top for me. I love scrambled eggs in my skillets but the egg yolk is the bomb! It's a runny-heart-attack-on-a-plate. I'd eat it everyday if I could but I don't. My wife turned me onto french fries dipped in milk shakes. I guess that's pretty popular though but I hadn't tried it until she forced me to. Strangley delicious.
Fairly normal in Beautiful Central Oregon, but I like to cook my deer liver in shallots and butter over a campfire right after dressing the kill.
