I'd rather have the Blazers make it in as the 8th seed than be the 9th or 10th seed. Would I prefer them to get a top 5 pick to making the playoffs this year? Yes. Ed O.
I'd prefer them to win the championship and have the #1 pick in the draft. I'm sure this is what Stern is hoping for also.
Rudy (Bristol) Who gets the 8th seed in West? Blazers or Grizz? John Hollinger (2:53 PM) I think there's a decent chance both get in, but I have to take one Memphis has a much stronger chance because the schedule is strongly in their favor the rest of the way. BTW, Grizzlies and Blazers play on the second-to-last day of the season in Portland and the winner also gets the tie-break -- that could be the decide http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/36799
Cameron Symlar (University of Memphis) Do you think the Grizzlies will jump the Trail Blazers and make the playoffs? John Hollinger (2:40 PM) For the first time in a long time, today I'm projecting that the last spot won't come down to Memphis and Portland but rather Portland and Utah -- that's how far the Jazz have fallen. Memphis has a very favorable schedule the rest of the way and if t
blazers will make the playoffs. not sure which team will be left out, but i'm 100% confident that the blazers will find a way in. this is not based on schedule, stats or anything else but blind blazers nuthuggary. LA and Wes will lead us there.
After last night, CoolStandings moved us down to 9th place, predicted. It's not even that close right now, but it'll be back and forth. This isn't permanent. seed..wins..team 7 44.9 Utah 8 44.2 Memphis 9 43.3 Portland Memphis' remaining home-away game ratio is 19-13. Ours is 17-16. The remaining opponents win records are even (.533 Memphis, .528 Portland). remaining opponents win record..home vs. away..team .533 19-13 Memphis .528 17-16 Portland http://www.coolstandings.com/basket...sn=2010&col=expw&sort=desc&run=1036&sim=s&v=c
Many fans have pointed to fatigue/lack of depth as being a significant part of the team's problems. If that is true, it is only going to get worse as the season wears on. Too bad there is no way the front office could have seen that coming!
I don't know how you figure that. Camby and Roy should be back after the All-Star break, which will add two good players to the rotation.
If "all-star" Roy was comming back, I would agree. The current Roy won't help, and could easily become a detriment. All this assumes that he actually does come back and play this season.
I don't think he has to come back at an All-Star level to be of help. I also think that, given his knee situation and what he's said, he will be willing to be a 6th man off the bench. In that role, I don't see any negatives to him coming back. I guess we can all have our own opinions until we see how it plays out, but I actually think the situation is fairly positive as far as chances of making the playoffs.
Utah has 1 more road game than us, but Memphis has 3 fewer. remaining opponents win record..home vs. away..team .516 15-17 Utah .533 19-13 Memphis .528 17-16 Portland Two unknowns will determine this, trades and injuries.
I hope you're right. I believe Roy's pride and drive will get him back on the court - eventually. The catch is, he has to adapt his game/attitude, or it could do more harm than good.
Be careful about expressing that opinion. It really seems to upset some of the posters here. (for the record, I agree with you)
