Some folks around here only cherish free speech that's in line with their own agenda.....people protest is countries with free speech.....and then the same folks call them un-American.......free speech also means you can speak any language you want....don't have to speak Murican when you go out to eat.
I don't know, I think I'd rather not live somewhere that would jail me for saying the Holocaust didn't happen but you guys feel free to define freedom however you want.
Yep, anyone in this country can think and say just about anything. Other places... not so much. If you want to tie freedom to infant mortality, be my guest. Just don't expect anyone to take that seriously. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laws_against_Holocaust_denial
I've actually lived outside this country and was never oppressed or felt my freedoms were limited.....America looks a lot different from a distance. I love my country but it's not the only healthy, free society on the planet....my relatives in 4 countries are not lacking freedoms you have. I think you have a limited perspective on other cultures so I don't take that seriously.
I've also lived outside our nation and been to 3 other countries for several years at a time and I never felt oppressed or my freedoms were limited.
I'm not worried about what you think. I'm just laughing at the criteria for freedom used in the rankings.
I have the freedom to not take anything you say about anything seriously. I've been doing that for years and I haven't been jailed yet. If there is country ranked higher than the US where you can be charged for saying the Holocaust didn't happen the rankings are worthless.
it's ok...the voices in your head won't put you in jail for thinking Jesus played with baby dinosaurs.
See, you can freely say shit like that. It doesn't mean there are no consequences for saying stupid stuff though.
well there is the scourge of forum posters...which I take as entertainment more than confrontation....those private detectives who are looking for bad guys sometimes are just dicks looking for assholes......I'd say that in Taipei tomorrow without any worry of police intervention..I'd say that in Auckland and somebody would buy me a pint.....some of us exist without the angst
"The objection to conforming to usages that have become dead to you is that it scatters your force. It loses your time and blurs the impression of your character. If you maintain a dead church, contribute to a dead Bible Society, vote with a great party either for the Government or against it, spread your table like base housekeepers,-under all these screens I have difficulty to detect the precise man you are. And of course so much force is withdrawn from your proper life. But do your thing, and I shall know you. Do your work, and you shall reinforce yourself. A man must consider what a blindman's buff is this game of conformity. If I know your sect I anticipate your argument..."
Wait now though, the first link I clicked on had alot more factors than just freedom into their rankings, like Safety. That has nothing to do with Security & Freedom in the context I meant. Its taking trade into the equation and the size of the government. I was speaking of individual rights, not our governments.
And that right there is a list of the freedoms I speak of... we might have too much freedom.... Dude.. Not cool in my book. I haven't said much about your obsession with Trump, but don't twist my words like that for your own personal agenda and or games. I would find it funny if it were a one time thing, but you clearly have a fixation on the current US president that is, well, as much as one can be concerned about another forum member, is concerning. I was clearly speaking about Curry, not Trump. And furthermore, Seriously Rasta, you derail yourself when you pull this crap. When you do actually post something credible and or legit, no one will read it or take it seriously, because you do this crap day in and day out. I can tell you are a very educated individual and its awesome you care so much about politics and world affairs, but you are not getting anywhere with this behavior other than possibly some personal fun and humor? But is that worth the risk of losing credibility and having the bulk of the members roll their eyes when they see a Rasta post? I would think not, but I am not you....
American citizens pay the loudest lip service to freedom of speech while also having the greatest contempt for people who exercise it.
