I haven't played a video game in years, is it too late?

There aren't any 12 year olds around her grandpa. Forums like these are outdated. You might as well be on a rotary phone and listening to your favorite record because this forum is filled with a bunch of old dudes.

I would advise you to go to TwitchTV and watch some live stream gameplay to see what you like game wise. That will aid your decision in console dirrection or PC.

This guy featured now http://www.twitch.tv/towelliee I know. He is about your age and an educated Pro gamer. Big income. He has tons of footage on youtube on several systems

I have not played in almost a year, lotsof work around the house et. When I finish painting and the weater turns to shit Iwill more than likely get backon some. Most of my gaming is PC based, MMORPG, FPS or stratagy based. I do hve a hankering to pick up the next Xbox..you never know..goodluck and have fun.

The more I think about it, this seems like the best idea. I can play those games, and if I get carried away with it, I can go buy a new system. But most likely it will be something I play sparingly.

Get a PS4. It's great for movies, games and other apps.

Those titles mean nothing to me. Are they ones you think a beginner would like?

Does it have to be a console? Whats your PC like? You could probably play a game like Civilization 5 on a very moderate system and it could buy you some time on figuring out the new consoles. Civ5 is a turn based strategy, you build a civilization from stone age to space age. You use things like war, religion, diplomacy, commerce, culture and tourism to win. They also have built in scenarios based on redoing major historical events. I've played this series since I was a kid and love it, each one is better than the last. Recommend 10/10

I'm not a fan of PC games and I don't like games that don't end.

With the cost of the new systems, extra controller(s), GAMES, online cost, etc., PS3 and Xbox 360 should be viable systems for at least the next 2 years.

NBA 2K15 will come out on both (the game I need every year). He could start with a cheaper system then move over in 2 years when the games on the new systems will be that much more awesome.

All I have at home now are iphones, ipads and one older macbook. I just don't see the need anymore for a home PC. I don't write much at home, and at work have a big powerful computer if it's needed. I get netflix, hulu, youtube, and a ton of other crap on my TV's at home, so if I decide to play games, I think a gaming system is the way to go.

You can't go wrong with Skyrim, God of War, Grandtheft Auto, and Red Dead Redemption then. Only console games I've played in years an loved em all. You need a playstation for God of War but the others are all found on either system I believe. Halo is fantastic but only on Xbox if you go that route. I personally don't like most first person shooters, they make me feel motion sick and when you go online you just get your ass kicked by 12 year-olds who have all had sex with your mom and think your gay.

I'm not so sure. When the 360 and PS3 got released a year later and PS2 and original Xbox games started to diminish down. Another thing is how many XBox one's and PS4 are on pre order right now. You can't find any.
