Hey we can still be big NBA/NFL/ even NFL/Hockey fans and love Soccer. Once people get over the stereotype that Soccer is wimpy they can see that its actually one of the more intense sporting events out there.

They can ask Javier Morales, David Ferreira, or Steve Zakuani how wimpy soccer is.

so the rant is that the Timbers now have too many new fans
that they didn't pay their dues
that they are not really "football" fans
that they just see this as entertainment and are not obsessed enough
that they probably never even played the game

but guess what - their money is just as green as yours
welcome to the New World of MLS soccer - relax and enjoy

No, the rant is that there's a bunch of people following the team because it's trendy and cool right now. That's the rant.

I can see your frustrations... but in all honesty, a lot of us checked out the Timbers to see what all the fuss was about. Its just a matter of when someone latched on.. cause there has been hype about the atmosphere there for a few years now. OG TA like Baracuda and co are ones that I cant say that about though.

Maybe I'm one of those fans you don't like. Just like The Professional Fan, the World Cup really did it for me last year. Now, I watch my kids play soccer and love it....I watch every Timbers game, tons of EPL on Fox Soccer Channel and just about any MLS game that is on.

So you are saying shell art is so over?

I did not follow the Timbers before last season and only watch Timbers games. The only thing that pisses me off are newbies that sit in the army sectio and the vets that bitch about it, then do the same thing.

I love Noobs! We were all noobs at one point in time. What I do not love is Noobs (or anyone) whose sole purpose is to just be seen in the TA, and get camera time. The crazy singing and dancing and fun, that is all for the boys on the pitch, not for the yuppees at ESPN. Some people take it too far thinking that everyone is a noob and only jumps on cause its cool... some people really do buy into what it means to be RCTID even though it was later.

    /rant from a 4 Season vet, part of a 5th season :)

For the most insight I recommend Baracuda who is about as "OG" and "Vet" as you can get this last decade. And all around hell of a nice dude :)
