It's clear they told him to go to his car and put his hands on it. Then they (too many, more than needed) surrounded him and he was shot.

The guy was unarmed, and clearly obeying the officers' orders.

They could have tasered him if he was resisting (he wasn't).

No matter how you spin it, it was excessive force. Over the top excessive.

Have you all watched the body cam footage of Fresno cops shooting that teenager a couple months ago? It really sucks. It looked like a suicide by cop. Really sad. I'm not sure what I would have done in that situation honestly.

Based on what happened to another cop recently, you either shoot the kid or get fired. Police aren't given the latitude to talk an armed person out of his gun.

Excessive force and some conspiracy to execute someone are two completely different things. Don't make shit up without knowing the truth.

They can rig a robot to blow people up with c4 but they can't build one to take down a mentally ill person without killing them.

God, give me a few bucks and I could build a remote control car that shoots tasers at people. Or tear gas. Or has a net cannon that shoots nets at them. Or dogs that when they bark shoot bees at you.

Ok, that last one might be from The Simpsons.

I feel like the fundamental issue in this country is the fear culture that's being propped up by the media and the government. Most of these shootings are happening out of fear. Here's a story about a kid who was suspended for doing the right thing. Zero tolerance rules. I feel like this country has lost it's common sense.

If I'm a cop, and I already have my gun pointed at someone, and I haven't SEEN a gun, the amount of time it would take for me to pull the trigger is SIGNIFICANTLY shorter than the time it would take for him to draw a gun, aim it, and shoot. And yet how many times do we see the police shoot someone because they won't show them their hands?

It's a simple "rules of engagement" issue. You can't shoot unless you are CLEARLY threatened. Someone not showing their hands may be justified to draw your weapon, but you should never shoot someone simply because they're not complying.

Why would they tell him to walk to his car? That's the least safe place for the officers to command him to go.

I think he had his hands up, the cops wanted him to get to the ground but he walked to his car. His hands went into his car and that's when the firing started.

Because that's what they do. "Put your hands on the car. "

They still had no reason to escalate to guns.

I'm guessing moving target practice was the motivation

That's not what they do. They have you walk backwards then kneel on the ground. They don't have you walk back to your vehicle where:

    1. You could possibly have a weapon in the front seat
    2. You could run in the car and drive away

They did not tell him to walk to his car, he was clearly doing that on his own. The helicopter police confirmed as such.

Maybe his cell phone was in the car with his lawyer on speed dial or he wanted to film what was happening

The police helicopter called him a scary dude. That's bullshit, too. That's the attitude of those cops. It's outright wrong. They shot an unarmed man.

You're guessing what he did. What we know is the cops blocked out the camera view and shot him.

They didn't account for the helicopter.

No, that's called a felony stop. That's when someone is suspected of a very serious crime. That is not standard procedure for someone who is broken down on the road.

"This guy is still walking and not following commands"
"Time for a taser I think"

Hands do not look like they are on the car like you are surrendering but more like you're reaching for something. 20 seconds in.

They had their guns drawn and multiple units responded, including a police helicopter.

    With his hands up.

The guy in the helicopter suggested it might be time to taser the guy. Not shoot him.

    Again, excessive force.

They called him scary because he seemed like a big guy. It was more of a compliment.

His hands seemed to be in his car's window when they started firing. There's no way he should have walked to his car, that's a dangerous situation for a cop because its not known what he will do.

When guns are drawn and you reach in your car for an unknown object is a great way to get shot.
