You almost got arrested for nothing

    Two things.

    1. I had no idea you were black

    2. Does Walmart have a leash law

I just want to make it clear for everyone what the first step in all of this is. Give wife car keys and tell her to go get in car move it out to outskirts of parking lot with car running and doors locked and call police.

I've done this a few times but luckily nothing ever came of these situations.

Oh, another pro tip. A few years back we were actually going in a WalMart neighborhood market and 4 cops cars flew up to the front door and the cops raced in.

Other customers just kept walking in to go shopping. Morons.

If you see that don't go in the store. Fucking dumb, you have no idea if they're arresting a shoplifter or if there's an active shooter.

I see a lot of what you "should" have done in the situation - no one knows what they will do in emergency until it happens, no matter how prepared they think they are.

As to what you should do now, follow up with PPD but ALSO with WalMart. Write letter to store manager and to national CEO or other top official. Give details, include the semi OK photos. Their security did nothing while an assault took place and then went after you.

As to those who "wish" something would happen to them so they could sue, you don't. I was falsely arrested for theft in a Safeway when I had not stolen anything and it was not fun. Because I was never taken out of the store it was not "worth" a lot in a suit although I was physically assaulted and publicly humiliated and forcibly searched (my bag, not my person). And they kept ignoring me until my then brother in law, a lawyer, wrote, not mentioning the personal relationship. I got a whopping $2000 out of them.

I guess Nate would say I really liked it or somesuch shit. He seems to be on a kick like that.

    Best to you, Dog.

Sly, I have never heard of such a wasted United Airlines moment before. A bloody nose and a few missing teeth at the hands of the security loon could have netted you millions!

I ran across the "No Photography" policy once at Crate and Barrel. My wife is an artist and she wanted me to take a picture of some glassware as a possible painting subject. A store employee came over immediately and told us that we couldn't take photos in the store. The manager came over and asked why we were taking pictures and when we explained said they have a strict "No Photography" policy because people might steal their design and display ideas. That sounded reasonable until I thought, if there's a strict policy, why the heck isn't it posted somewhere? Anyway, they insisted that we delete the photos, which we did because, by then my wife was so ticked that she said she didn't want to paint their crap anyway.

When Winco came to Vegas a few years ago it was the best thing that happened here that year.

This is a really shitty situation to be in. If you try to intervene, you could potentially get seriously hurt, but if you let it continue, someone could die...

For future reference, I think, calling 911 should be the first thing you do. If you want to try to find employees or other people to stop it, that's great, but your wife should have called 911 while you were doing that. The woman could have been seriously hurt, had a concussion, etc. Getting paramedics and law enforcement there ASAP should have been your first objective. As a kid we were basically brain washed to call 911 first. Always call 911. It was drilled into our little heads over and over. They've got cops all over the place on the east side. I'm sure they would have responded quickly.

At the dog park if two dogs start fighting you just hose them off. You shoulda just done that.

Macgyver would have tossed a couple mentos into a 2 liter of diet coke and then thrown it in between them.

Yeah and I'm sure that he would open the mentos with his Swiss army knife instead of with his hands

many security guards aren't supposed to do anything other than observe and report to police. most places dont want to deal with the law suits involved if their security gets involved and someone ends up hurt. many places specificly train security not to do anything, they are literally there to be a visual deterrent and nothing more. so him not doing anything may or may not have been an issue depending on wal-mart's policy. where they went wrong was harassing you for no reason other than they were embarrassed they were seen being cowards on camera.

He isn't dumb, he could snap open mentos faster with his bare hands.

This is true. They still should have called 911. But they are probably instructed to not get involved to avoid lawsuits. In fact it's probably in their standard policies and procedures.
