You don't fracture tendons and ligaments, you tear them or rupture them. I guess you could partially tear something, but a full thickness tear is still a tear. Rupture would be more definitive of it being a full thickness tear, but a tear could still mean the same thing.

They are probably using the word tear as a synonym for rupture. A grade 3 sprain is the same as a complete tear or rupture. When you see the snap or pop in his leg during the injury it's the Achilles completely snapping inside his leg and why the ref standing by him yelled "oh god"

Underpaid? He was the highest paid second year player in NBA history.

It seemed like a risky move at first, but ended up being an extremely good value for a starting shooting guard.

Two seasons ago, we ran an inbounds alley oop play for Matthews to dunk about once a game. This past year, we only ran it for Dame and not as often.

Good value, yes but he wasn't underpaid.

Maybe not at first, but later on he definitely was. You forget that he was considered overpaid at the start because he was being brought in as a backup to Brandon Roy.

His production every year of the contract was greater than an average MLE salaried player. Thus he was always underpaid. Sure there were other players in his draft class more underpaid than him, or late picks severely underpaid, but he was still underpaid his entire career.

I'd definitely want to have him back for a year and see what he can do. I wouldn't want to gamble on giving him the same contract he was slated to make though. Sign him to a 1 year 7 mil contract, and let him show what he's worth when the cap expands. If he really does come back strong as ever, he'd only want a 1 year deal anyway.

I hope he doesn't resign, I'd love to have him here as a Blazer. Re-Signing Wes is priority #2 imo.

Guys like Wes is what this team lacked last year. Guys that play with fire and emotion... That would dive headfirst into the 6th row to save a possession.

You gotta bring him back next year ideally for around $7M-$8M... If we end up having to give him more than that it could be the difference between being able to sign a good backup PG or being stuck with Blake next year.

I just hope Wes sees it that way! Unfortunately I think Wes will want a little more especially if he stays in Portland. Maybe around $10 mill.

Rarely do I agree with you...but I do on this. My guess is he would look at it as a slap in the face if we take a wait and see approach and only offer him a one year contract. All players want respect, but I think for Wes it is even more of an issue. The negotiations are going to be tricky. I hope to hell that Neil has good intel from the doctors.

As much as he is the the heart and soul of the team, if he can't be effective on the basketball court anymore, we won't be able to play him.

Wes might be the heart & soul of THIS team but everyone is replaceable at some point. If Wes wants 10 Mill+. I wouldn't be mad if the Blazers sent him packing.
