Not sure why you'd say that, by all accounts Simmons is a good guy, just working through the yips. I can think of plenty other guys I'd want them around less than him. It's absolutely an upside play, but if you can get a decent role player (like Draymond -- speaking of players you wouldn't want them around...) I could see that being a win long term. I did say people would hate it haha.
I don't hate it. But I think losing the young Claxton might not be worth it to Brooklyn. Not for Nurk. They would really have to love Ant or really hate Simmons
100% really comes down to how badly they want rid of Simmons and/or whether or not they think they lose Clax as a FA next year. It's far from a smash accept on their side either (though that's usually a good sign of a reasonable value exchange)... Just a random thought that I'd not seen thrown out...
As a backup backup backup option, I would even consider rolling the dice on Ant and filler just for Simmons. (if OG is off the table) I think your comparison to Green is a good one. Yes, he is a headcase but as Mook alluded to in his thread, we might have to take one. A 6'10 240 defender is a good fit next to Grant. Concerned with his health, but not his free throw shooting.
My contract as Mr. Lillard's agent begins July 1; following that we will have some announcements regarding his future plans. barfo
That's my thing -- if you're expecting #1 overall performances out of him, you're probably always going to be disappointed. If you can salvage a super switchable big who distributes and rebounds without demanding shots, I think it's not the worst overall outcome. Clearly teams aren't banging down our door to get Nurk and Ant. Definitely would not be my first choice, but it's not working gangbusters with Ant and Nurk so trying something different like this wouldn't upset me. There could still be a good player inside Simmons and maybe a change of scenery without the expectations of, really anything, let along carrying a franchise, would help?
It does. But OG also makes sense for most teams. So someone else might give Toronto more. I assume he will opt out after next year, so whoever gets him will have to pay more to keep him.
Honestly, that's far from the worst trade idea I've seen on here (and certainly more sensible than 99% of the stuff that comes out on Twitter). Playing in Portland might be the one thing that could save Simmons' career. He wouldn't be under the microscope in Portland, especially if Dame is still on the Blazers and the national media will continue to fixate on that. Embracing a Draymond-type role would be perfect for Simmons if he's wise.
I'd be happy if Ant + Nurk gets Simmons + Claxton and Simmons never plays a minute. It doesn't help with future negotiations, but it gets a great piece for now.
Completely agree. You keep Dame every damn time. I was just responding to Fez's comment asking why everyone is assuming that Ant needs to be traded
Ben Simmons has hardly played in the NBA. He's a roll of the dice for sure but there is no questioning his talent and defense. I think he would help us and probably is hungry.

So essentially Simons, Little,Murray, and Rupert for Siakam? Fuck off with that tbh. Siakam is good, but not worth that.
