You are correct on both accounts. For someone like Randle, Bledsoe's contract would have had to been fully (or at least mostly) guaranteed.
Lol. Leave Nurk or Hart open and they'll carry the scoring load just fine by attacking the rack. And if you try to recover to stop them Grant or Dame would be playing 1 on 1. They'll win those matchups almost every night. That's 3 legit all stars. I'll take it. And we'd still have the 11 pick as well as future picks to trade. And as a very good team we'd be a much better destination for free agents.
And didn't we just stretch Bledsoe's contract anyway? Seems like we could have gotten something done between Ingles and Bledsoe... But yeah. Just a rumor. Though, it seems like most on both sides would have been happy with that deal.
Understood. Simply saying I didn't see anybody opposed when I checked message boards. Most people thought it was a fair deal. I saw/heard more Portland fans saying "no" than NY fans when I was looking.
I honestly think Schmitz was probably the one who made that not happen. It makes me worry that if his voice matters too much that we might end up overvaluing our picks, piss Dame off and lose Dame to a youth rebuild. But we’ll know in a couple of months.
We saw 80% of that starting lineup most this season for heavy minutes and it was below average. Swapping Simon's for Randle and you think it's a big enough upgrade to jump into one of the best groups in the NBA? I just don't see it.
Yeah, I think so. A big athletic player who scores as much as Ant, at a different position, and rebounds and defends at a high level, which would also move Jeremy Grant to the 3 spot where he would be more effective in every aspect of the game, and allowing Josh Hart to play his true position... There would be absolutely no contest between the two lineups. Every position would be vastly improved (including Dame and Nurk being able to focus more on their strengths).
