The Houston and OKC scenarios laid out by MM make the most sense to me. I think I like the Houston one better simply because the thought of LMA on OKC scares me, and I wouldn't want to do anything that would make it more likely that the ex-Sonics win a title.
Man if we ever trade Aldridge; I hope it's to a Eastern Conference team. I definitely don't want him to go LaMonster on us. Look how he plays against Chicago. He makes damn sure they know what they were missing.
There are 2 ways this story has legs. A) LMA is angry and wants out. B) His hip and/or heart condition is worse than the team is letting on.
C) Olshey thinks that a lottery picks and cap space this summer are a necessary part of the rebuild process, and concludes that trading LMA for picks/potential (and tanking this season) is the best way to do it.
And "win now" takes "win soon" and "get money from BlazerWookiee" out the window right along with it.
http://bkref.com/tiny/Ab9nJ Slightly, yes, but what you get is "basically" LMA at 24 again. And, really, I think that's what a lot of "trade LMA he's 27!" people actually want: LMA at age 24.
You had it set to "cumulative." If you just go by productivity this year, Brook is putting up far superior per minute stats (albeit in 9 fewer minutes/game). http://bkref.com/tiny/bBMAB
Lopez is a more efficient/diverse scorer than LaMarcus, they rebound about the same, and Lopez can protect the rim.
I set it to cumulative on purpose, because LMA has had better years before the hip injury (I think he's on a down year set to improve again), and Lopez is having a really crazy good year, but who knows if it's the truth or not. But yeah, this year, you have to package Leonard with LA just to keep Brooklyn from laughing you off the phone.
The main trouble with LMA + Leonard for a single player is that we've already got a bare cupboard. A move like that (nearly lateral) and surrendering more pieces prolongs any kind of rebuild timeline.
Really? Aldridge on a down year as you describe it is averaging more points and rebounds than Lopez. I realize it's in more minutes, but why is Lopez only playing 29.5 a game? They may say no, but I can't see how they'd laugh us off the phone either
