Lol, true enough, guess the thread starter didn't say the player had to be American.

Steve Nash would be my vote, he is a leader, he's not concerned about his own ego too much and he seems to be thoughtful. Even when he's asked courtside questions, he always stops to consider the answer.
Avery Johnson would be a good one too, but he obviously is not current player.</div>
Well, its a good place to start. People are throwing out players like Garnett, who may be good-hearted, but aren't qualified to be anything other than a basketball player. Obviously, once you've got the people that have completed a college education, you can differentiate between them.

For retired players i would say David Robinson, Current i would say Duncan or Shaq, those two do so much for the comunity.

Just because they do a lot of work in the community doesn't make them legit canditates. I agree with nominating Duncan because he seems like a humble and well-educated person. Shaq, I'm not so sure about. But obviously, I could be wrong.

<div class="quote_poster">Swish Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">I was waiting for Amaechi's name to come up, good call Chuck. He's definitely one of the smartest men to ever play in the NBA and you can just tell how intelligent he is by hearing him speak in an interview. And Chuck is right, we've had rich white men running this country for far too long. It's time for a change and honestly I'd rather have a gay John Amaechi in charge rather than some of the other people you guys are mentioning (Michael Jordan or Shaquille O'Neal???)</div>
I don't know about this one. Amerachi is very intelligent, yes indeed. But a gay man as president of the United States just doesn't quite add up to me. What message are you sending to young ppl? Despite what ppl might claim, sexual orientation can sometimes be a choice for some. Just might opinion.................

I forgot about Grant Hill. He's definatley a stand up guy, plus his wife BANGIN!. He's also educated, articulate, and very active in the community.

What message are we sending to young people electing a C-student as President?

And sexual orientation isn't a choice. You can't choose to be attracted to someone.

Actually it is a predisposition, to be more accurate. One somewhat chooses to live that lifestyle and one's environment can have an impact as well.

(Ok so I know I'm supposed to choose a current player but I'm going to pick a coach/former player because the current batch of ballers bore me...)

As for President... Hmm... I'd like to see Phil Jackson be the President because he deals with drama so well. He's also thoughtful, cynical/funny, and arrogant/confident, which are important traits imo. I wouldn't mind hearing him bash Shaq or Red Auerbach everyday either (for the record, I recognize Shaq's all time greatness and his quarreling problems, however, I don't put Red on any pedestal).

No, it isn't. You can't "choose" who you're attracted to. You can choose your lifestyle, or who you have relationships with, but the actual attraction (which is what orientation determinmes) is involuntary.

Staying with in the American requirements, once Dwyane Wade hit 35, I would give him a shot at it.

Generally very humbled and his ego only comes into play when necessary. He is a leader of his team and a warrior figure who can take injury but not give up the battle.

I'd go think about having Steve Nash if he fit the requirements.

Welcome to 2007! Believe it or not, there are ppl who choose bein gay as a way of attention. I went to school with some, and I'm sure other ppl know someone who can't quite make up their mind. Not to mention the heavy gay influences on cable television. Kids are subject to lots of "stuff" on television and personal life that could lean them in a certain direction.

Again, you need to distinguish actually being gay (having a certain sexual orientation) from having gay relationships and/or having a "gay lifestyle." There's a choice in the latter, and that can be affected by the "gay influences".
