Some migrant caravan members self-deporting as frustration grows in Tijuana

TIJUANA – A little after 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, a large white truck pulled up to the Benito Juarez Sports Complex in Tijuana as 57 new migrants climb out to join the more than 6,000 being sheltered here near the San Ysidro U.S.-Mexico Port of Entry.

That’s in addition to the more 2,000 in nearby Mexicali who are expected to make their way toward Tijuana this week, according to local officials.

At present, officials say the total number of migrants in Tijuana alone break down this way: 6,062 total, comprising of 3,877 men, 1,127 women and 1,058 children.

These migrants are tired, restless and growing frustrated by the reality that it’s proving much more difficult to get across the border than they had anticipated.

And the journey, which began for most of them in Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador, is also taking a physical toll.

Local health officials said that more than half of them are suffering from respiratory conditions – and walking between the jam-packed tents, a cacophony of coughing can be heard day and night.

But yet more are arriving every day, and Tijuana’s local government is bearing the cost of it all.

"We need help. This is very costly,” said Delegate Genaro Lopez Moreno. “This is costing us $30,000 to $40,000 dollars a day to keep these people here and all those funds have to come from some place – and it is municipal funds.”

Now, the fear among Tijuana residents is that a protracted situation could ultimately lead to higher taxes to pay for it all.

Delegate Moreno also lays much of the blame on the caravan organizers who he believes sold the migrants a lot of false hope.

"The leaders that were promising them the great American Dream aren't coming through,” Moreno said, adding, “they know they're going to be better off going back home."

And some have left. Approximately 80 self-deported Tuesday while another 98 were deported by Mexican immigration officials for their involvement in Sunday’s demonstrations that turned violent.

Others have chosen to accept offers of temporary work and asylum from Mexico.

You didn't have to convince the Dodge Caravan that the migration was a good idea when the alternative was death for some of them. I think the death thing would make me migrate.

Border agents arrest MS-13 gang member and convicted killer on move with migrant caravan

By Paulina Dedaj | Fox News

MS-13 gang member caught traveling with migrant caravan

Chief Border Patrol agent of the San Diego sector Rodney Scott says the situation at the border is 'getting worse.'

Border Patrol agents arrested a gang member and a newly released convicted murder last weekend, both said to have traveled to the border with the migrant caravan.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officials said the first incident occurred on Saturday at 6:09 p.m., when agents were alerted to a man attempting to enter the country just east of the Calexico Port of Entry.

During an interview, 29-year-old Jose Villalobos-Jobel told law enforcement that he was a citizen of Honduras and an “active gang member” belonging to the notorious MS-13 criminal organization. He also admitted to traveling with the migrant caravan from Central America.

He was being held pending a repatriation hearing.

The second arrest came hours later, when agents noticed three people attempting to cross the border illegally just east of the San Ysidro Port of Entry.

CPB said that while interviewing the men in custody, agents discovered that one man, 46-year-old Miguel Angel Ramirez, was released from a prison in Honduras four months earlier and had been held there for a murder conviction.

Officials with the San Diego Sector Border Patrol’s Foreign Operations Branch confirmed this with the Honduran Consulate in Los Angeles, which said that Ramirez had been serving 10 years for a homicide and three years for robbery.

He also claimed to be traveling with the caravan. The other two men, 22 and 38, were also arrested and were awaiting deportation proceedings.

There are at least 6,000 migrants who traveled caravan-style from Central America currently in Tijuana, Mexico.

They only found one in the 6,000? I figured they'd find thousands.

One MS-13 gang member can affect many lives. They are like a cancer if you find it early and cut it out it may not spread.
Im glad they caught this one! Thanks to our border patrol!

This is like the 20th example I've posted and as always your deflection is the only response.

Why do you hate crime victims? :dunno:

Can't say as I blame her. Most cities have a 9 AM rule. No noisy work before 9 AM. Making noise on a Sunday morning while working is just sick.

I don't hate crime victims and I wish you'd check with me before you speak for me.
I do hate extreme ignorance. I'll bet others out there feel the same as me.

Edit: PS I don't commit all your trivia to memory but even 20 examples is kind of a drop in the bucket. 0.333%. That is, assuming your 20 examples hold up and that's highly questionable given some of the sources I've seen posted.

Another day, another illegal immigrant MS13 criminal.

MS-13 member from Mexico arrested in Arizona during immigration stop, CBP says

By Nicole Darrah | Fox News

Manuel Lopez-Gomez, 28, was arrested on Thursday by Border Patrol agents. He's a member of MS-13, according to Customs and Border Protection. (Customs and Border Protection)

An MS-13 gang member was arrested Thursday in Arizona during an immigration stop by Border Patrol agents, officials said Monday.

Manuel Lopez-Gomez, 28, from Mexico, was taken into custody by agents from the Yuma sector of the border after he was stopped on Route 93 near Wikieup, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced in a news release.

HONDURAN CARAVAN MEMBER HURLED ROCKS AT BORDER PATROL AGENTS, SET TREE ON FIRE: CBP

Lopez-Gomez, identified as an illegal immigrant, was traveling with four others, three of whom were named by the federal agency.

Andres Abel Garcia, a 49-year-old Mexican national, was arrested during the incident. CBP said he was convicted of a DUI within 10 years of having a previous DUI. A 24-year-old Mexican national and her 27-year-old boyfriend, a U.S. citizen from Phoenix, were also arrested by border agents "for harboring certain aliens."

Those in the group who were identified as illegal immigrants told immigration officials they were traveling to Los Angeles, California with the goal of living and working there.

Would you deny someone the opportunity to come here like that? He just wants a better gang, err...life.

Majority of Non-Citizen Households in US Access Welfare Programs, Report Finds
    By Alysia E. Garrison
    December 3, 2018 Updated: December 3, 2018

Almost 2 out of 3 non-citizen households in the United States receive some form of welfare
, according to a report released by the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS).

The report, released Dec. 2, found 63 percent of non-citizen households in the United States tap at least one welfare program, compared with 35 percent of native households. The findings are based on the Census Bureau’s latest 2014 Survey of Income and Program Participation.

Non-citizen households are using welfare food programs and Medicaid at twice the rate of native households, the study found. There are a total of 4.68 million non-citizen households receiving some form of welfare and the numbers don’t improve over time. For non-citizens who remain in the country for more than 10 years, the percentage of welfare recipients rises to 70 percent.

In this study, non-citizens are defined as long-term temporary visitors, such as guest workers and foreign students, permanent residents who haven’t yet naturalized (so-called green card holders), and illegal immigrants.

“Of non-citizens in the Census Bureau data, roughly half are in the country illegally,” the CIS estimates.

The new analysis supports President Donald Trump’s worry that immigrants—both legal and illegal—impose tremendous fiscal costs on the nation.

Legal immigrants are initially barred from many, but not all, welfare programs; after a period of time in the United States, they are able to qualify. Today, most legal immigrants have lived in the U.S. long enough to qualify for many welfare programs. Some states provide welfare to new immigrants independent of the federal government.
The biggest avenue non-citizens use to access welfare is through their children.

“Non-citizens (including illegal immigrants) can receive benefits on behalf of their U.S.-born children who are awarded U.S. citizenship and full welfare eligibility at birth,” the CIS notes.

Although a number of programs were examined in the report, no single program accounts for the discrepancy in the use of welfare programs between citizens and non-citizens. For example, the CIS said when “not counting school lunch and breakfast, welfare use is still 61 percent for non-citizen households, compared with 33 percent for natives. Not counting Medicaid, welfare use is 55 percent for immigrants compared with 30 percent for natives.”

You don't get it. Statistics are static.

The grief and tragedy caused by these criminals continues to build and branch out each and every day, adding horror upon horror.

Driver Who Ran Over Mother of Girl Killed by MS-13 Is Charged With Negligent Homicide

    • Nov. 30, 2018

      • CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. — In September, at the Long Island cul-de-sac where two years ago her teenage daughter was found murdered by the transnational gang MS-13, Evelyn Rodriguez saw that the memorial she had placed there that day was gone.

The woman who had dismantled it — because she was trying to sell the house behind it — was about to drive off with the destroyed mementos, the authorities would later learn.

Ms. Rodriguez, who had become a nationally-known anti-gang activist following the killing of her daughter, Kayla Cuevas, confronted the driver, as did Kayla’s father. In the ensuing horrific scene caught on video by a local news crew and confirmed by the Suffolk County prosecutor’s office, the driver, Annmarie Drago, first hit Ms. Rodriguez with her front wheel, causing Ms. Rodriguez to flip onto the pavement.

Ms. Drago then kept going, running over her body with the back tire, fatally crushing Ms. Rodriguez.

Stephen Kunken, the lawyer for Ms. Drago, who pleaded not guilty at her arraignment on Friday, said that his client’s actions “were neither intentional nor reckless.”

“My client has asked me to extend her sincere condolences to the family of Evelyn Rodriguez, to her friends, and to her community,” Mr. Kunken said in a statement. “What happened on September 14, 2018, was a tragic accident. My client is a hardworking mother of two sons. She is a registered nurse, and a teacher.”

      • Ms. Drago had been trying to sell the house for her mother, according to prosecutors. The body of Kayla, 16, was found behind the house after MS-13 members had used baseball bats and machetes to kill her along with her friend, Nisa Mickens, 15, the authorities said. Kayla had been in a dispute at school with one of the gang members.

The death of the two American-born girls set off a national outrage during President Trump’s campaign and he has continued to make MS-13 a focus of his administration. Several members of MS-13 have been charged in the killing of the two girls.

Ms. Rodriguez went on to advocate for gang prevention efforts in schools, and while she declined to campaign against illegal immigrants — only those who came to the United States to do harm, she said — Mr. Trump featured her as a prime victim of immigrant crime.

He invited her to his State of the Union address this year, along with Nisa’s parents.

Hours before a memorial service for the second anniversary of Kayla’s death, the authorities said, Ms. Drago took down a floral arrangement, destroyed candles, popped balloons and stuffed larger items, including a table and a wire stand, into the trunk of her white sport utility vehicle.

Both Ms. Rodriguez and her partner, Freddy Cuevas, were alerted that the memorial was gone and came to the site. They started arguing vociferously with Ms. Drago, who was in the car with her boyfriend, not to drive off with the precious mementos.

Ms. Rodriguez was in front of the car. Mr. Cuevas went to the back. "Freddy warned the defendant, ‘you will run over Evelyn if you drive away,’” Mr. Sini said.

Kelsey Cuevas, 20, the older daughter of Ms. Rodriguez and Mr. Cuevas, was in the courtroom on Friday and said this was the beginning of the family’s quest for justice.

“A ‘sorry’ doesn’t bring my mother back,” she said.

Later, Ms. Cuevas spoke emotionally of her mother’s legacy: “She taught me to always stay positive, never give up and always make sure that you are heard.”

Don't you get it? One by one means jack shit. You can find examples of anything and everything in a country of over 300 Million people. However, when it's happening in significant numbers, then you're on to something.

I can find individual examples of atrocities by any group including Whites that would curl your toes but if it's as rare as hen's teeth than what's the sweat? You could just as easily die from a car wreck or a plane crash or something else. You can't sweat every little thing in this world that might go wrong. You've gotta play statistics else be prepared to have a life threatening ulcer and perhaps die from that.

Everything has a cost tied to it and its up to someone to decide if the cost is worth the expenditure, which is the way it should be done. It should matter if it's a single person, family, organization or government, fiscal responsibility is important.
Ive taught my kids this and mage my business's this way for years. Money cost money!

The recent thing that pissed me off was my granddaughter enrolled at UO this last fall and since her parents both worked she wasn't able to get any assistance other than the fisa? Then I find out that people that are her illegally or even green card can get the education paid for by the government. If this is totally accurate, it is wrong that she wasn't allowed any assistance but others that are not citizens were.
If the neighbors young son wanted me to pay for his college before my own granddaughters, that would not be right in my mind. If I could afford to pay for both and wanted too, that would be my choice.

This whole lack of control and management of things pertaining immigration only increases cost for something we cannot afford!

I have a different understanding. My understanding is that green card immigrants only get a scholarship if they earn it.
My niece was a minority at the U of W and had to get a Stafford loan. She's still paying on it. There is no way to not pay it back. I'd like to pay her loan off but my wife forbids it even though my niece is related to my wife by blood. Sometimes I wish I could understand my wife.
