Well, since marriage is a legal contract and miners can't be legally bound by contract... This doesn't make sense in any way.

Jerry Seinfeld was dating a high school senior (who was 17, iirc) before he married his current wife. Scotty, from Star Trek, married a high school graduate (she was 18, he was like 54).

"In early 1974, he was introduced to 17-year-old fan Wende Braunberger at a theatre performance. They were married that same year, when they were 54 and 18, on October 12, 1974"

If she was 18, it's legal.
Hell, look at Mick Jaggeer, over 70 and hooked up with 20 something New York City Ballet dancer. They have a five year old son.

I think it's 46 States. But that is with parental consent, right? Not that that makes it right... And isn't their an age difference limit in most states?

The only reason this is a thing is for medical benefits, I think. Another reason to support universal healthcare...

Texas GOP lawmaker hires Christian nationalist who called for drag show attendees to be executed

State Rep. Tony Tinderholt, R-Arlington, hired Jake Neidert, 22, last month as his office’s legislative director amid a wave of anti-LGBTQ violence and rhetoric and ahead of an impending legislative session that is expected to focus heavily on anti-trans bills.

Joyful family holiday celebration in the Castro yesterday. Featured visit from Santa Claus, Santa's Little Helper contest for children, songs, drag queen story hour and other fun activities. The adult only celebration was the previous week. The family celebration included Sexy Elf pageant but all contestants were clothed.

A group of about 20 bigots protested families having a good time. One carried a sign reading "I am the light of the world", rather ironic since they wanted the celebration to go dark.

Conservative Christians are having a shit fit because gospel singer Amy Grant is hosting her niece's same sex wedding. Ms. Grant said Jesus wants people to love others as they are.

Apparently unaware of the commandments of Republican Jesus.

Daughters of the Confederacy...why am I not surprised.

None of these books seem harmful to students.

I can attest that Beloved, Slaughterhouse Five, Kite Runner, and Go Ask Alice are all very worthy and valuable pieces of literature that belong in the library. I read them all in high school...well I read Kite Runner after but still. All great Novels.

So tired of this bullshit. Taking books off the shelves in an attempt to erase black and LGBTQ history. It's very important to learn the different perspectives of history. Good literature is meant to provoke feelings in us, sometimes, oftentimes, uncomfortable feelings. That is the nature of our humanity.

I probably learned more reading all the diverse books I read throughout my time in school, then what was taught in the classroom.

I object to Baggett and others who are trying to hide their racism and homophobia behind idiotic reasonings because there is nothing intelligent or worthwhile in their objections at all. "Poo-tee-weet. Weet, weet, weet."

The idea that history is a fairy tale where they all lived happily ever after.
