Do you think teachers should have to lie to parents about their students ... or is this going to the Supreme Court at a national level what you find 'not cool.'

Buddy, most teachers are on the kids’ side, and if the kid doesn’t want their parents to know, there’s probably a good reason. Teachers should get to lie to parents about their children in order to protect the children from their parents. Period. Parents are unqualified dumbasses who happened to fit a penis in a vagina for a few minutes. Teachers spend years training to help kids be successful.

what is extremely not cool are a tiny minority of bootlicking assholes who are trying to icepick their way into destroying all the other teachers’ ability to protect their kids because they’re religious zealots acting as fucking sleeper agents.

 

Teachers are not being asked to lie, just to not volunteer information. Is it lying if a clergy member keeps a parishioner's confidence confidential?

 

Buddy seems like a really condescending way to respond to an honest question. I'd say as a teacher myself that most of us DO NOT want to lie to parents but I guess you'd know better.

 

Depends on what that clergy member is keeping confidential ... the law is the law.

 

Would you, as a teacher yourself, out a trans student to their parents if the trans student asks you to (a) use their correct pronouns but (b) asks you not to tell their parents?

 

Luckily I've never been put in that position but it's definitely something I'd talk to our counselors and principals about. I genuinely think that the overwhelming majority of parents want what is best for their kids, and sadly a lot of times these kids don't know what is best for them at their young and immature ages.

Seems like you disagree, what experience do you have dealing with these kind of young minds? I'm sorry if you don't agree that the mind of a human isn't fully developed until around the age of 25, meaning I don't expect them to make rational and thoughtful decisions as 16 year olds. I deal with them every single day at this age and they are fascinating to be around but no I don't always think they know what is best.

 

So I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you are against gender transition before 25?

 

Actually, my understanding is a Catholic priest cannot violate confessional even if someone confesses to murder. And being trans is not (yet) a crime, although Republicans are trying.

What age were you when you knew what gender you are? Most of you are male. When did you know that you were a boy? How would you have reacted at 16, or 12, or 5 if adults told you you were too young to know you were a boy? At 24?
