Massive inflation was always coming. We had artificially low inflation for the last 30 years (thanks to the market flooding of Russian natural resources by their oligarchs and the exploitation of Chinese labor). The Boomers were always going to accelerate retirement this decade. And that was always going to exasperate the problem. We've had lower inflation here in the US than virtually anywhere else in the world. We've had a better job market here in the US than virtually anywhere else in the world... What is Trump doing that is supposed to make these things better for the US? So far, from everything I'm seeing his actions and policies are going to make it worse... There is no way tariffs will result in lower inflation.
If they stop social security they'll lose all of congress in '26 and Trump will be impeached. Or worse.
I doubt that. The GOP is complicit. Plus who would replace him? Vance would do the same, same with Johnson. Nothing would change. They're actively trying to destroy the country because they got theirs.
Dems need to get potential candidate faces out there and asap, mix it up, do something off the wall like regional town halls with 4-5 potential candidates tuning out early and with great focus. Winning in 26 and 28. Select 3-5 issues that resonate with voters and make the next 2-4 years one that waters down everything trump does but in a positive fashion.
I really hoped they learned that performative outrage isn't the way. Man they looked fucking stupid. We made fun of and rightly so of MTG for doing the same thing and then we did it. Like come on, GOVERN. Really disappointed in all politicians, more so than usual.
The GOP wouldn't have any control if Dems take the house and senate. They could impeach Vance as well.
Were you born yesterday? You don't have to go back a lot of years to find much higher inflation, and/or much more unemployment. barfo
The problem being I think that in 2008/9 and in 2000/01, we had social safety nets and a willingness to leverage them instead of austerity measures. I got caught in the 2000 tech bubble crash and didn’t get another full time job until 2005 or so. But congress kept extending unemployment benefits which was helpful to me. In 2008, everyone was furloughed at my job but I luckily had some time off accrued, and the Bush/Obama administrations did some work to ease the pain.
That's fair. I withdraw any and all snark. It's useful, though, to know enough history to know that it's possible that things will get much much worse. And to know the definition of 'gaslight', which is not what you apparently think it is. barfo
