Status-quoers would be the worst business owners, never changing employees...

Good question. I was wondering if anyone would pick up on that. However, don't forget, I was fighting fire with fire. In other words I didn't begin the cherry picking.

Sure, but the playoffs do have to be weighted way more heavily when you're talking about a team that is trying to take the next step. In spite of Olshey's salesman BS, 49-33 actually means very little next to 0-4.

You can't even get in the playoffs without doing something in the regular season. Now, how good is a really good playoff team if it can't make the playoffs?

Some on is living in denial and that is not the river in Egypt. It's about making noise in the Playoffs, not just showing up. Participation awards (thankfully) are not given out in the NBA. And if he is talking about the regular season, please point out that your team was 3 games from not being in the Playoffs at all.

I'm very tired of the 'slickness', the 'smarminess' and the 'holier than thou' way he comes across. It's much more suited for LA than Portland where people don't live in a place most of us refer to as reality.

16/30 teams in the NBA make the playoffs every year. Not exactly some huge accomplishment.

This needs to be understood by a ton of people here, and clearly our franchise leaders as well.

How many won 49 games and did it in the West?

Edit: What's that? The number shrank to two? That makes a total of six out of the entire NBA that won more games than the Blazers. I believe this also continues the trend of our getting better every year.

How many didn't win a single postseason game?

That's actually Portland's most unique distinction of all this year.

Again, you can't get to the post season without a successful regular season. Now, tell me which one is more important? A chain is only as strong as the previous links.

True, I also heard that you also can't win a championship without winning a postseason game.

Yep, but a boiling pot will never boil unless you heat it up first.

To get to the top, you've gotta climb up close in the first place. You can be the best at climbing the last few feet of a mountain in the world and it's useless unless you can get up there close in the first place.

Therefor, I contend that a good regular season is more important than a bad regular season and a great ability to win playoff games. Without the first, you haven't even a chance.

Every business is different, your statement is a blanketed one.

The Blazers, along with most NBA teams, continue to skyrocket in value. I think even the status-quoers would want a championship but as a business if they are making money by advancing to the playoffs every year and keeping the team intact then you can't say the one in charge is a bad business owner. You could say that type of ownership would never lead to a title but those are two different things.

I own my own business which is a retail store. Retail is an industry that has a ton of turnover. My last hire was almost a year ago and all my other employees have been here for several years which is very rare. I am not accepting status-quo. I have a good, experienced staff that I can rely on. The continuity of having a staff that knows the ins and outs of the store and my expectations is very valuable. I also believe that those employees enjoy working for the store and for me. There is nothing positive that would come from firing them and changing to new employees. I know it's not the same as sports but you were trying to equate them with your ignorant statement.

The Blazers are very rare, too, in their lack of trades. Why can't our GM make trades like other GMs do? Why do you think this roster (or coach or GM) is too precious and rare to ever make a major change?

Not only did the Blazers get swept, they were down at least 15 points at one point during 3 of the 4 games... and Neil says the season was a success... absolutely pathetic... and that condescending ahole gets angry when fans question roster or GM or coaching... no accountability... unbelievable

If you don't win in the postseason, the regular season means nothing, no matter how good it was.

Actions speak louder than words. He’s not gonna come out and say “we fucked up and that was unacceptable and someone has to pay.” There’s literally NO upside in publicly saying that outside of pleasing some emotional fans like yourself.

    We’ll see about the actions.

And it was a very disappointing season until that win streak. There was a stretch of 13 games - out of 82 - that was good.

People bragging about them getting to the third seed, they were the first third seed to be swept in forty years, and the Pelicans were the lowest seed ever to sweep an upper seed. We don't need any changes though.
