I found the people who spammed "I hate MIXUM" posts to be as annoying/disruptive as MIXUM and his spam. That said, I didn't feel anyone needed to be banned, but I can understand the decision to do so.
There's so much good stuff in this thread the past couple pages. The rules are deliberately vague and meant to be guidelines. The common sense translations are "act like an adult" and "no fun at others' expense." It's a sad thing that in the end, MIXUM admitted flat out that he was here having fun at others' expense, and that's all there is to it. And he seems to have known the jig was up and wasn't acting much like an adult. The guy had an enormously long rope, and to the displeasure of many. He finally hung himself with it. I almost never edit another person's post. The times I do are to turn a youtube link into video tags so the video is embedded. Or change a thread title when a poster asks. Or to edit out someone's email address when they post it (like when selling tickets).
I'm confused, are people leaving? Because the last PM I got was Ed telling me that the check I sent him bounced.
That's what I meant. You said it more concisely. The official rules exist to justify actions done for unofficial reasons. If the rules were consistently enforced, the board would die immediately. The reasons given for Mixum's ban are superfluous--2 posts that supposedly show evil intent instead of honor, and calling someone today a bad word when several people were already attacking Mixum personally. The real reason for his unpopularity has nothing to do with the written rules, and it is--Some people (not me) come here for the quasi-religious positivism of believing in a team. If you go to church and one guy is saying God doesn't exist, you'll ask the pastor to kick him out. You want to feel good as a true believer without a cynical naysayer present. It would be hard to codify the "real rule," which is what percentage of your posting must be positive, or what percentage must not be negative. A second "real reason" is that Mixum often spun what seems like positive news into negative, e.g. today's thread title, "Things are really bad now.... Blazers sign Chris Johnson AGAIN."
I dislike embedded video because I can't max it to full screen. I always have to right click to open in another window and then max.
I don't think this is exactly the case, it's more like a person intentionally trying to disrupt a church meeting by saying god doesn't exist if he believes it or not. I don't think it's a matter of posting negative posts, but posting antagonistic posts.
If you aren't a dickhead no one has a reason to try and find your name and harass you with that knowledge. Its fairly easy. People don't give a shit about harassing you unless you prove to be a major douche. Then people are inclined to put a face or name with the fool.
The sad part is the guy got away with a being a blatant troll of epic proportions for over 5 years in my estimation. He'll reappear with a new username or a new IP if he has too. I think at this point its part of who he is. I knew this would never happen under the abler Ed O. It took him being on vacation to finally get done.
Seems like you're justifying digging up info on posters that you don't like. You're a cause, and not a symptom. Plus, you whiffed badly on me, which makes you seem foolish.
digging up info? I just spread the word. Can't remember who dug it up. No one really liked you at the time, you were pretty miserable.
All of this could have been avoided if we would have immediately banned Nate the moment he posted he was stepping down. Lesson learned.
