I've been using myfitnesspal.com for maybe a year now.

It's not so helpful with low carb diets, though.

    Re: Hey further

Probably good for a low carb diet, but not sure on the total calories. Maybe I could on a free day.

So it's been about two weeks and I've lost 9 pounds.

I'm not doing Atkins or any diet in particular. I'm just eating foods with low or zero carbs on the label.

I'm not even keeping a diary, but I'm quite sure I eat no more than 35 net carbs and most days 20-25.

I found these 4g carb yogurts at Ralph's - carb master it's called. Perfect answer for craving something sweet.

Some sort of eggs at 10:30, and a bunch of meat and veggies for dinner.

Another find is this chocolate milk recipe I concocted. 1-2 tbsp cocoa powder (1carb), 8 oz almond milk, and a teaspoon or two of stevia to sweeten it. If I've been light on carbs all day, I add 2 tsp of peanut butter. In a blender, of course.

Last night I easily ate a half pound of smoked pork tenderloin. For veggies I had a cucumber cut up and marinated in vinegar and red pepper flakes for a few hours.

Tonight I had a chicken breast with buffalo sauce and a stuffed chicken breast (mushrooms and cheese, wrapped in bacon). For veggies, romaine lettuce spears and low carb dip.

I also walked about 6 miles today.

Sounds like life is pretty good and getting better. Kudos! I badly sprained my ankle two weeks ago and have been in a boot, so for me it's been the opposite. I took the boot off yesterday, but still can't do too much. On Saturday I'll try a simple 10 mile ride, just to see how my ankle reacts.

I was losing weight without walking for a few days, FWIW.

I've mentioned working at Genentech, and last spring had my sabbatical, 6 weeks off (with pay) plus I tacked on a few vacation days so it was closer to 7 weeks. By the second week I decided I did not want to spend sabbatical in the kitchen and I'd stopped cooking. I ate what was in my big freezer, fortunately well stocked, or something in the garden, or ate out. I almost never eat out, but that 7 weeks I ate dinner and/or lunch out at least 4 or 5 days a week. When I go out to eat, unless the restaurant is really sucky, I get dessert, frequently wine or cocktail, things I never do at home. And I lost weight.

The big difference is I was not sitting all day. I mostly did "staycation", went to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium, Oakland Museum, Oakland Zoo, California Academy of Sciences, did two wine tours in Sonoma, etc. Nearly everything required a lot of walking. I took BART when possible, it's a mile each way to the station, on foot. And I did a 2 mile walk early every morning. I did no exercise plan and I ate what I wanted, including rich things like roast duck (twice) and dessert almost daily.

Conclusion, a big reason for obesity is not just portion size or type of food but the fact that most of us simply sit all day.

Re: OT: LeBron James Shows Off "No Carb" Weight Loss

It's near impossible to consistently eat zero carbs daily. You'd only be eating meats and mushrooms. There's 1g in a cup of shredded lettuce.

I'm eating about 20g of carbs a day.

Today I ate scrambled eggs with chorizo, mushrooms, cheese, and bacon for lunch. For dinner I'm having 2 quarter pound burgers with cheese, a big Caesar salad with grilled chicken, and a cup of carbmaster yogurt. The yogurt has 4 carbs, the salad dressing has 4, the cheese has 4, the bacon 1. I had a handful of almonds, 2 carbs, and some salami, 2 carbs.

It's not a burger without a bun... you're just having patties like a sad little man. The meals sound great, but don't pretend you're having burgers.
