To me, it's the same as Dame's reaction to the Team USA people. "You don't want me--fine, I'll show you why you should have." I have no problem with either.
I seem to remember Olshey saying he has something special planned for Lopez, Aldridge and Matthews for their services. I would like having a rattlesnake in Aldridge's locker, Lopez gets a anime character of him bobble head and Matthews has Tony Stark present him with an Iron Man Appreciation statue.
I love wes. I hope he can separate business decisions and politics from fans. It makes me wonder the way roy left and now wes if maybe paul allen and/or someone on his staff is a dick. But I cant be too mad, he signs the checks not me. Wes said stuff like he wants to take on a bigger roll he could have been talking about for us without aldridge, but at the same time olshey and allen decided to go a different direction. Dont judge us wes, im pretty sure if it came to fan vote you'd be a blazer
I look at wesleys reaction like a bad break up. I loved her but she moved on anyway, so I have to hate her to help myself move on.
I fully expect him to get a huge applause when he plays here. Hopefully it'll remind him how good we were to him.
Wesley is right to feel disrespected. He was not offered. I'd be pissed too. Olshey confirmed that unless LA re-signed we would not keep Fropez and Wes. I'm pissed about him not being offered. However I think DAL will rue the day they signed him to a max deal.
Do you think he would he have been less insulted if Olshey had offered him a $36M contract when the Kings and Mavs were offering $60M+?
I agree. To not even give him a call or text is disrespectful. I don't care if it was made clear previously that he's a package deal contingent on Aldridge re-signing (which is disrespectful in it's own way), you still should reach out to him somehow. The fact he was met with complete silence from the Blazers is surprising. But I'm sure he can separate the organization from the fans.
The kind of dog who likes snausages? No. Seriosly. I love Wes to death. And now he wants to pour coal oil on us and light it on fire. Can't say I blame him. Diplomacy is not the Blazers Forte.
None of this surprises me. I love Wes, but he has a lot of pride, and you could see this coming for a while now. The only way to avoid hard feelings was to offer him the max. And even then he said it might not be enough if he was not promised a bigger role. I don't really think he even wanted to come back to a younger team.
Blazer Killer? Is that on par with like Yankee Killer or something? I can't invision Mathews with a De Niro sized chip on his shoulder doing pushups with Love and Hate tattooed on his knuckles. The Blazers foster ambivalence not hatred.
I think it's great that someone actually wanted to be back. With that said, Neil made it pretty clear (unless he didn't to the player and agent) that he nor Lopez would be offered anything if LA wasn't coming back. Why be oblivious to the idea?
Yeah, I think this is just Wes finding fuel to motivate himself. I'd have loved to have him back, and I loved having him on this team. I think most Blazer fans would agree, and I think Wes knows that. It's a business, though, and when it became apparent the amount of money he was going to get and that LA wasn't coming back, his departure was in the best interest of all parties. I give Wes all the props in the world. I hope he comes back better than ever and will root for him individually even though I will root for the Blazers as a team. And if he wants to play the hurt-feelings card, so be it. I think for what he gave the Blazers the last few years, he's earned a pass on that from our fans.
IMO it would be very poor form if someone from the Blazers didn't call Wes and explain to him the team's strategy, and why they would not be trying to compete for his services on a max deal. But they probably didn't.
