NEW YORK -- It started with a bleeder and a nubber, and that was bad enough. By the time the Yankees had completed their eight-run barrage in the seventh inning on Sunday, there was little the Mets could do but shake their heads and mutter a few quiet obscenities. This game, this Subway Series, was theirs to win. And they lost it. It was nothing so egregious as a dropped popup -- no, nothing like that. Just a few poorly executed pitches and a few well-placed hits, turning a fine Sunday afternoon into a 9-3 Mets loss at Yankee Stadium. "It leaves a bad taste in your mouth," starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey said. "I thought I threw the ball well, and obviously the seventh inning ruins the whole day."
