Great article ! I love how the writer mentions a lot of realistic trade targets for Nurk that would make the Blazers better !

"Hey if they managed to trade Nurkic for Siakam they would be better !" yeah no shit

I don't know about that. Ant hasn't had an all-star level game in a month. Over the last 12 games he's averaged 18 points and 3 assists while shooting 43% on FG's and 35% on three's. That's nearly 40% of his season. He's 24th in scoring but 19th in FGA. He's tied for 53rd in assists....with Josh Hart; he's 60th in 3ptFG%. He doesn't get to the FT line, doesn't rebound well for a guard, and he doesn't play good defense. His PER is barely above average and his winshare rate is below average

none of that is all-star trajectory.

He's 23 and he's only spent a year as a starter so you can project some upside because of age. But it is his 5th season so that upside is tempered a little. So I doubt the rest of the league sees Ant as having all-star trajectory any more than they saw CJ as having all-star trajectory...and we know what trade value CJ had. Maybe Ant would return a little more because of youth and contract; but CJ had thoroughly established what he was while Ant's season has generated lots of questions about his game

now that is just my evaluation of Ant's season. I'm actually a little higher on him than all that implies. But he has nowhere near the value of SGA or even Fox IMO.

Interesting that you picked 12 games. Ignoring the 45 point game (happened 13 games ago) and ignoring the two games where he scored 32 and 31 points that he had in that stretch.

One thing, outside of him being 23 years old, people seem to gloss over regarding Simons is that he's the 2nd or 3rd option on a team and still scoring 22+ a game.

For example, who is the 2nd and 3rd leading scorers on the Thunder? Someone who averages about 15 and 14

On the Nuggets? 18 and 17.

    Grizz 22 and 17
    Mavs 18 and 16
    Clipps 18 and 15
    Kings 19 and 16
    Suns 18 and 16
    Jazz 20 and 14
    Twolvs 21 and 17
    Bucks 19 and 15
    Cavs 21 and 15
    Pacers 18 and 17

I think there's maybe 5 teams that have 3 guys averaging 20 or more. It's probably more likely if he was the sole 2nd option, his scoring would go up.

I wonder what Simons stats would be if he was the sole scorer on a team like SGA is, or benefited from 10 FT's a night.

That's not to say Simons doesn't have holes in his game, but ffs, he's giving them 22 points a night and 4 assists as a the non primary ball handler.

Sometimes this place just needs a scapegoat.

If one anticipates a better solution, then they should suggest it.
Would that provide an antivirus for the ill we are facing?
I think it would be antisocial to provide an anthology on the subject, whilst simultaneously coming across antiquated.
I may have failed antidotally, but at the risk of providing an anticlimax, I'll show myself out through the anteroom.....

I have no idea but Joe hired a bunch of folks who probably do. I'd be looking at DeRozan, Jimmy Butler..those type of impact playerss but Siakim, Jrue Holiday, OG etc are the type guys we need..allstars...consistent impact players. We need an insurance 7 ftr...a bench 3 pt sharpshooter and an upgrade at SF and SG...however they do it we need guys who can run and we need size.

Hard to imagine Milwaukee trading Holiday for Ant. Same with Miami and Butler. The others, we'd have to include more than Ant, and even then I wonder.

because that's his last all-star level game, that's why. It was pretty clear what I was saying

and I didn't "ignore" those two 30 point games. They were part of that 12 game stretch. He also had a 6 point and 7 point game in that stretch. And in those two 30 point games, he averaged 1.5 assists and 2 rebounds. Those really aren't all-star worthy games. Those are Lou Williams/Jordan Clarkson type games; scorers bringing just scoring to the mix. And those two guys have combined for 27 seasons and exactly 0 all-star games

Simons has seven games of 30 or more points this season. Jordan Poole has 7 games of 30 or more points. Julius Randle has 10. I doubt any of the three will be in the all-star game

Is Ant for DeRozan in the right package worth discussing?

if DeRozan was a lockdown defender and 5 years younger, sure. But he's neither of those things. He's a better player than Ant, at the moment, but that's not going to last. So, I'd say no

I think OG could be had for Ant if the Raptors have a trade partner for FVV.

Even when Nurk puts up a 20/10 game the impact is minimal.

I don't think it's wise to talk shit about guys we want traded. Rival GMs probably read every post on this board and this could really hurt Nurk's trade value.
