The parade that is at night is the Starlight parade lanny. The Junior Parade was during the day typically on a Wednesday. I don;t think you were an adult when the Junior Parade started as it was started in the 30's. It's not only the biggest kids parade now, it is also the oldest.

There must have been a hiatus because I recall them starting Starlight parade back up again. It was never in the news when I was a teenager but as an adult I remember all the local TV news stations carrying it. But hoopguru has informed me that the kids' parade and the Starlight parade are different. So maybe when you said the children's parade I was thinking of the Starlight parade.
