I don't want to live where I can't drink fresh water and it never rains.....not a sun worshiper in the age of global warming...I lived for a couple decades in the sub tropics and it's brutal in the summer if you have skin like mine. My body is designed for Ireland....needs green or it freaks out.
I like places with trees and many, many fresh water rivers to fish...Im right where I always wanted to be on the planet....best of both worlds and no frozen Iowa winters or humid scorching summers

But I feel like this is just a vicious cycle.

Wages increase -----> business owners and corporations raise prices because they don't want to eat the higher overhead from raised wages -------- > cost of living increases because food and necessities are now more expensive ------- >people want more money because things are more expensive and their raised wages don't cover the now added cost.

(Meanwhile) They raised minimum wages but they didn't raise the wages of people like me, so my dollar is now worth less because I'm not getting a 30% wage increase to keep up with inflation that was caused by a hike in minimum wage.

For fun and out of curiosity I always look at real estate in random places like Kansas or Iowa or Montana. It’s kind of enticing to just pack up and start fresh and live a simpler life. And cheaper. But no way my kids would be down for that. I owe about half my homes value, and not sure I’ll ever pay it off barring some random inheritance or something.

The inflation we are seeing now is not primarily a result of changes in the minimum wage.

And yes, the entire idea of raising the minimum wage was to give the people earning that little a leg up. You and I don't get the raise because we don't need it as much.

Those people with minimum wage aren't paying hundreds of dollars a month in student loans. They're probably also getting financial assistance from the government.

Their wage goes up ----- > costs of food and other services goes up --------- > My pay did not go up ------ > I have to pay more for goods and services. I now have to make my money go further.

Well, you could take a minimum wage job, and then you'd get all the great benefits you are currently missing out on.

I have worked minimum wage jobs. I could do it in my sleep. Paying them more is fine, but the problem is companies then passing the buck back to the consumers. God forbid we cut into the profits of the CEO. I invested a lot of time and money into my education. My dollar shouldn't be worth less so someone can sweep the floors at Home Depot for $18 an hour.

Income inequality continues to grow. Ceos continue to get paid more and more every decade to the point they make a ton more than the average worker. They should make more than the average worker, just not 4,000 times more.

You are basically taking the same position as the CEO's you don't like. "I got mine, those without can fuck right off."

Yes, you are being asked to give up a little so that the less fortunate can eat.

When inflation changes starting wages the people who had been in that position many years want their pay to reflect that. It’s a tricky situation.

I work a union gig and in the part time ranks they’re paying people $27 hr to start out (because of lack of people applying) while people who have been doing that same job for several years aren’t even at that rate yet. Making for a tricky situation that the union is having a tough time addressing.

    Sometimes life just ain’t fair

Why shouldn't their time be worth $36k per year?
