He should do what Conan O'Brien did after getting dumped on the Tonight Show and go on a US tour called not suitable for prime time internet tour...he got picked up by a small market network and his website grew huge as a result....even Steve Bannon did the tour after getting fired...

From a legal perspective you are correct. But our world has changed and YouTube is nearly akin to the town square.

I have always believed better to know the devil and fight then to let him lurk in the shadows. If someone has terrible ideas, lies or perversions I want them to have the right to embarrass themselves and elucidate the rest of society to what perils stupid people pose.

Exactly. Let people ostracize themselves. I've always said the same thing when it comes to all the 'hate speech' whining. Let the racists, bigots, etc. express their bullshit. They will find out quickly they aren't well liked and either change their views or fuck off. It really expedites the process. The difference with the whole Alex Jones thing is he has a shit ton of followers and isn't being ostracized by a wide enough margin so these companies had to step in with a bigger stick and artificially make him unpopular. It isn't justified by even their own quality standards.

 

I don't think you understand just how big youtube is. You keep saying these companies have the right to take off tv shows on television or on the internet. Okay but it gets weird when it's obviously political. Alex jones is conservative. There is no hate speech he projects. Just conspiracies and rants mixed in with a bit of conservative ideology. Everybody knows these tech companies are largely liberal and of that ideology. I mean look what they did to james demore the "google memo" guy. Other former google employees have come out and talked about how these ideologies are spread through out the company. Google owns youtube. Youtube is MASSIVE. It's bigger than most television shows at this point. Joe rogan could go do a podcast with somebody and that averages over a million views meanwhile an interview on fox or cnn, late night shows wont get you anywhere near that. It's big time. So yeah it's kind of a big deal when something like this happens. It's not about Alex jones at this point. The only defense I have of him is that he shouldn't of been banned and it's definitely not hate speech. This is where the bigger picture comes into play. The liberals love the fact alex got banned, that's fine but it's so blind and illogical. It wasn't just youtube, the biggest music streaming site in Spotify got rid of it. Apple, got rid of it and of course Facebook which is known for taking peoples data and mishandling it or using it. That's not okay. None of it is. I dislike SJW's a ton but I am not gonna want their channel banned if it's not hate speech. Everybody deserves a medium to express opinion even if it's the dumbest one I have ever heard but if it's not hate speech like in this scenario, this is a bad sign.

 

couldn't disagree more...there's always been controversial material available to those who read it....go to a magazine stand in the town square...or even a book store and you choose what you want to absorb...I've used youtube for years without ever needing to see content I have no use for...I choose not to watch TV period....Alex Jones is on the front page of most internet websites....I don't click on them. As I said...the world has internet censorship to the extreme in China...N Korea...Iran...other countries as well...we have access on the internet to loads of crap...if I had a website, I wouldn't allow cigarette ads either...why? Because I can choose to not advertise them even though smoking is all over the town square. Try to find the Marquis de Sade in a Christian bookstore or even Henry Miller....you won't find them

 

I don't think you understand the concept of Youtube. You seem to think he is being advertised or was. I don't think you know anything about it at all actually so i don't even know why you speak on it.

 

Doesn't bother me a bit.....nor does the size of a corporation...Alex Jones is not going away..he's just lost his big soapbox....you can feel victimized by it...I don't...it's called perspective...I've heard about 20 secs of Info wars and that was enough for me...you can watch them all and even link them here if you like...there are options. Use them....works for me. Shock jocks aren't my political foes....they are just fucking shock jocks.

You don't even watch tv right? and you watch youtube but from the sounds of it you don't seem to quite grasp just how big it is or how much money is involved. Who gives a fuck about China. You cant just point to the worst possible example to make something else seem better. It is what it is. China being exceptionally and blatantly shitty at freedom of speech/press doesn't make our situation go away. These companies have a stranglehold on content flow and just because you claim to 'seek your own knowledge' doesn't mean the other 99.9% of the online population isn't being fed hand selected content using algorithms based on their search and viewing histories.
