Its called potential. Should we trade him? At this point he's the best player we have defensively at SF.

He'a already our best perimeter defender and his offense is improving, haven't you seen the midrange jumper off the dribble becoming more of a consistent thing as of late? If not then you should try watching the games on your television and not on your 14 inch monitor.

    Re: Injury updates

And it gets even older when half those posting in the thread quote the poster the other half have on their ignore list.

Please, have mercy on the rest of us. You don't NEED to refute the troll, but if you feel you must, PLEASE don't quote his posts.

I don't know what Mixum is smoking but I love Batum's game and we will miss his defense. It really doesn't matter for tonight's game but if he misses more games I think we will really struggle.

Don't let the facts get in the way of a horrible argument.

Batum has played decent defense against some players in the league, but he has no chance against a player as strong as LeBron. Not sure why anyone would believe otherwise.

Batum IS our best "Oh Shit!" defender, in that he can come out of nowhere and prevent an otherwise sure break-away basket. He is also better then most guys on the team at staying in front of his guy. His team defense, like the rest of the Blazers, still has a ways to go.

Offensively he is still a work in progress. I hope he turns out to be good. The sad fact is the ratio of potentially really good players to actually really good players is very, very high. Batum has a much better chance at becoming Trent Hassle then he does Tayshawn Prince.

All of that said, the team will miss him tonight because he played 15 to 20 minutes at SF that Roy and Outlaw didn't have to play. Other then those two guys, we don't have anyone at that position. Further, Outlaw is a disaster in the starting unit. He always has been.

Portland was already super thin at SF. Now they are transparent.

Yes but here is the thing. I think you are assuming we are expecting consistency from him, where I don't think any of the fans here are. I don't know about you, but I expected Batum to be in the D league this year, not starting every game. He is doing fine. If anything, it is you that have the unreal expectations for this guy.
