The Micro definitely was even better than my expectations when I saw it in person. The size of that thing is just amazing. I would definitely get it but the Touch is just $50 more and offers 15GB more. Although it's quite big (almost my palm), I think I can handle it. The guy there tried to sell me the Mpio HD200 like crazy. http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetai...14&newdeptid=19 It actually looks alright, but the battery life was just 2/3 of the Zen and I didn't know much about it quality-wise etc. Anyone familiar with it care to explain and compare it between the Zen Touch?
Don't get the Mpio, their reputation is all that great - quality wise. If you look around a bit in audiophile forums and stuff, you'll find that Creative haa one of the best reputations for sound out there. If you really need the 20GB of space than I say go for the Touch but if you're like me, I have around 3GB of music than the Micro is perfect. I figured that I would never have 20GB of music anyways. The only thing about the Micro is the battery life. It's not that great compared to the Touch's (25 vs. 10 continuous) and it has a tendency to drain the battery when it's off for a little while. But it really hasn't bothered me too much. I say just get a couple and try it out for a little while and keep the one you like better.
Lol, I don't even have a job right now so getting two at once won't work. I have about $450 to spend right now, that's why I went ballistics when I saw that the Touch was just $349. But then late last night I went to Bestbuy.ca and saw that theyre regular price for the Touch was just $349, which was the sale price at futureshop. bestbuy is out of stock also so I'll just go when they get stock, as the price will still stay at $349.
I got the Zen Touch today at the Sherway Best Buy for 339. One of just two left in that store. And I gotta say, I'm impressed. I've put just about 300 songs on it for now and it came with 59 classical tunes, the likes of Beethoven and Mozart. The touchpad is awesome and there are so many options. I like how I can create a custom playlist and give it an actual name. This is the first time I've ever gotten a hard drive mp3 player, so I gotta say everything is impressive to me. I haven't really tested the battery life yet as it was uncharged when I got it and it's recharging right now.
Good choice, just get yourself some decent headphones and you will really be able to hear the difference. I figured if I spent $400 on an mp3 player I might as well get some decent headphones because the ones they give you aren't very good. Unless you have some already which in that case you can just ignore the rest of my post. These are the ones I got: link and here is the review from CNET: link It even made their list of top headphones. A little pricey but I thought it was worth it.
Sound quality on the accompanying headphones are alright, but they are oversized and hurt my ears after a while of listening. I'll definitely get a better pair of headphones once I get a job. Went around to the nearby mall yesterday and handed out a few resumes.
Alright...I'm looking for something to put my music on as well. I currently have nothing really an Sony MD player which I got for 25 dollars. I have the money, but my parents won't let me make a big purchase like that until they see im doing good in school. I've been reading this thread, and it seems like you guys prefer Creative over Apple. I'm sure this has been answered already, but how light are the Zen Touch, and are they much bigger than the regular iPod's? BTW, for those of you who own iPod's...If I purchased one, would I be able to transfer songs from someone elses iPod on to mine somehow?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Banks:</div><div class="quote_post">BTW, for those of you who own iPod's...If I purchased one, would I be able to transfer songs from someone elses iPod on to mine somehow?</div>Yes, its called Podshanking.
Zen Touch is about 200 grams, about 50 more than the iPod, but that's because of the battery which lasts for 24 hours per charge, and it isn't lying. I let it play without interrupting and without the backlight and it lasted about 28 hours. The 50 grams is definitely worth the extra battery life, and it's not like the extra weight would break your hand off. Other than that, the Zen Touch is also thicker than the iPod, but that's also because of the high-performance battery. Btw, just as a testament to the quality issue, I don't know much about iPods having never owned one, but I do have a 64mb Creative Nomad I bought in 2001 which cost me 500 bucks. It's still functional now and except for a few scratches that I caused, it's still good as new song-playing wise etc.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Banks:</div><div class="quote_post"> BTW, for those of you who own iPod's...If I purchased one, would I be able to transfer songs from someone elses iPod on to mine somehow?</div> There is a way to get around it but it's not supported straight-out. Apple doesn't want you sharing your songs, especially if you got them from iTunes. My advice to you is to test a couple out for yourself. I got the Micro because it's small and it has enough capacity to suit my needs. I bought both the iPod and the Creative and couldn't deal with the lack of bass in the iPod so i kept the Micro. The iPod is a good player too but after listening to the Micro I couldn't go back. Just don't get sucked into the iPod trend and pick the one that's right for you.
Anyone get new players? Got the Samsung Z5 two weeks ago. The Touch was getting a big too bulky to carry around, and the Z5 4Gb was on sale for $250. It's been the shiet.

I'm still using the Micro. I still love and don't have any problems with it. Creative actually just released a new player to replace the Micro and I might do an upgrade.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting P.A.P.:</div><div class="quote_post">How big is it? Nano-ish size? Why not go with a nano (if the prices are close)</div> It's a bit thicker, but every other dimension is exact. Reasons I got it over the Nano = better screen, longer battery life (best selling point for me), made of aluminum (no scratches), and the ability to set any picture as your background. Never been an iPod fanboy anyways, even if the nano was better I probably won't have gotten it.
Just in case anyone's interested the Creative Zen Vision:M is on sale for Dell's Days of Deals today for $279.99. It's the cheapest you will find it anywhere by at least $50 (it's $369 at Futureshop and $329 at Best Buy). It's got really good reviews, you can just google it and read about it. But if you're going to get one, it's only on sale for today (and providing it doesn't sell out).
